Ned Luke, the actor best known for playing Michael in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V, has responded to reports of the character making his GTA Online debut. Rumors of the event started earlier this week when a datamine suggested that Michael could join GTA Online via a new update.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most successful games of all time, with its sales figures only bested by Minecraft. Although players got to experience the stories of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor back in 2013, the game’s online counterpart has been the recipient of much attention from Rockstar Games, with the game getting continued support and updates for the last nine years. GTA Online has had a number of massive content updates, like the After Hours update in 2018, or the Diamond Casino and Resort update in 2019. Just last year, players got to hit the streets with GTA 5's Franklin from the game’s main story, opening even greater potential for story-mode and GTA Online crossovers in the future.

After a dataminer leaked evidence pointing to a potential cinema-themed update coming to GTA Online, Michael’s actor, Ned Luke, took to Twitter to respond to the rumors that his character, who works in a movie studio, may join the game. Luke was not thrilled about the news, though he was careful to not confirm nor deny the rumors. Of course, it should be expected that Luke would keep quiet about his potential involvement in a GTA Online update, but fans in the replies section of the tweet seem to believe that Ned knows something that they don’t. Luke's response can be seen in the tweet below.

The alleged evidence of an upcoming GTA Online update found in the leak is not enough to confirm a new DLC centered around Michael, though Luke’s response does perhaps hint that something in the datamine could be true. Although Grand Theft Auto 5 was released nearly a decade ago, Ned Luke still remains active in the community and responds to GTA news more often than not. His vague response to the leak will leave fans scratching their heads for some time, though most GTA fans have already been looking to the future in hopes of a new entry in the series.

Rockstar typically releases big GTA Online updates near the end of the summer, so it could be some time before anything in the datamine gets confirmed or denied, though fans can expect something big coming soon now that Rockstar has released GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. With the new generation of consoles getting GTA Online and GTA 5, it can be implied that Rockstar has plans to continue updating the games for even more years to come.
