The Contract, GTA Online's forthcoming update, features GTA 5 star Franklin Clinton and fans have taken note of his transformation over the years. Grand Theft Auto Online's The Contract will go live across all platforms next week on Wednesday, December 15, Rockstar Games announced a couple of days ago.

Franklin Clinton stars in The Contract alongside Lamar and Chop the Dog, the latter two having clearly stayed true to the former in his come-up from Los Santos street hustler to legitimate businessman. Notably, Dr. Dre will appear in the content update as well, joining forces with Franklin and Co. after his phone filled with unreleased tracks goes missing. This could prove the most exciting GTA Online patch to date, yet some fans can't help but wonder why such an update didn't come to fruition as single-player expansion of some kind. Upon taking a closer look at screenshots and gameplay footage, other fan questions about The Contract content have also begun to circulate.

It may not show in The Contract's brief teaser trailer, but Franklin has definitely aged since last we saw him in Grand Theft Auto V. And GTA faithful quickly took notice. Evidence of the years gone by is especially on display in the update's key art, which depicts Franklin with specks of gray in his hair and beard. Age appears to show in his face as well, though the frown lines and wrinkles could be attributed to the grimace he wears. Either way, players such as Reddit user JackTheModder opened up discussion about the time that's passed in the following thread, which sees some commenters note that Franklin is still rocking his same ol' "yee-yee-ass haircut":

Rockstar's description for The Contract mentions that "years" have passed since Franklin took part in the Union Depository heist with Michael, Lester, and Trevor. If we're to believe time in the GTA 5 universe has moved according to real-time, then Franklin is undoubtedly in his 30s now. He wears the salt and pepper look well.

Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive originally release GTA 5 on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. It later migrated to PC, PS4, and Xbox One, a move that helped secure its place as one of the best-selling games of all-time at over 150 million copies sold. The number will likely continue to climb once the ever-popular adventure makes its way to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in March 2022.
