Patrick Dempsey recently shared that while Grey's Anatomy fans are talking about him and Ellen Pompeo starring on a TV series together, this isn't the case. Dempsey explained to Entertainment Weekly, "It just is a real testament to the fans that they want to see that couple still together and what an impact it is. But no, I haven't read anything, I haven't seen anything, and I haven't talked to her about it."

While season 19 is as juicy as ever and it's fun rewatching the series, Reddit fans have noticed that several of the timelines on Grey's Anatomy don't add up, and viewers have pointed out that some characters have confusing backgrounds.

How Long Is Season 13?

April Kepner looking serious in season 13 of Grey's Anatomy

The best seasons of Grey's Anatomy are action-packed, and season 13 has a lot going on, including April Kepner expecting a baby. But while it seems like most seasons of the hospital drama take place over a calendar year, that doesn't add up with April's pregnancy.

One Redditor noted "11.23 to 14.07 is meant to be one year. One. Even though April has a full pregnancy in s12 meaning s13 could only take place over 2 months." April's storyline in season 13 is still significant, but this is a strange timeframe.

Teddy's Pregnancy Doesn't Match Up

Teddy in Grey's Anatomy

Teddy Altman is pregnant in season 15 and it's emotional as she and Owen Hunt have known each other for so long and had such an up and down relationship.

However, Teddy's pregnancy doesn't add up, as she is several months along at one point and then the timeline changes and she has been expecting for less time. One Redditor mentioned "Teddy arrives on June 9 2018 11 weeks pregnant and becomes 16 weeks pregnant on November 2nd. By valentine's day she is 7 months pregnant but Alison is born in May 2019."

When Do Mark And Derek Meet Each Other?

Mark and Derek at the hospital in Grey's Anatomy

Mark Sloan, Derek Shepherd and Addison Montgomery have a complex history with each other, but the timeline of how they all met is different at various points in the series.

Redditor thefairiegirl pointed out "Mark supposedly grew up with Derek and was practically raised by his Mother, yet when Addison comes she explains they went to med school together in New York which is how they all became friends." It's hard to know whether Mark and Derek really did become friends when they were children or if they bonded during college.

Are DeLuca's Parents Alive?

Andrew and Carina DeLuca on Grey's Anatomy

Maggie Pierce and Andrew DeLuca have the best Grey's Anatomy character development and while they have a promising romance, it's tough to see them split up, although fans do like watching DeLuca and Meredith fall in love. Before that happens, Maggie meets DeLuca's family, which is a sweet scene.

However, while this is a heartfelt moment, it doesn't seem like it coudl actually be possible. Redditor Bubbly-Junket pointed out "Maggie talking with Deluca's parents in S13 but then in S15 he said his mother died years ago."

When Does Ben Golf?

Ben Warren talking on his phone in Grey's Anatomy

Ben Warren and Miranda Bailey are one of the best Grey's Anatomy couples and it's always great to learn more about Ben's background since he is so kind and supportive of Bailey.

Redditor Kind_Cupcake noted that Ben explains that he golfs Tuesday mornings and then Ben is gone during a hospital shooting and is golfing. The fan wrote that this timeframe doesn't make sense, "it's just weird that they establish that he golfs on Tuesdays and then the very next episode have him golfing on a Wednesday."

When Does Meredith Move To Seattle?

Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey in Grey's Anatomy

While fans know that Meredith had a hard childhood with a lot of loneliness, it's hard to know exactly when Ellis and Meredith begin living in Seattle. This is one timeframe that doesn't add up and there seem to be many errors here.

Redditor TooMuchGreysAnatomy asked, "Did Meredith grow up at Seattle Grace or did her mother take her to Boston when she was 5, never to return until her surgical internship?" Since Meredith's background is so important for her development as a surgeon, this stands out.

Is Lexie Allergic To Eggs?

Lexie at the beach smiling in Greys Anatomy.

Grey's Anatomy fans love Lexie Grey as she's sweet, funny, and has some quirks, which make her scenes compelling. A fan found a confusing timeline about Lexie's food allergies. While she seems to be unable to eat eggs, that changes later.

Redditor EmotionFlimsy wrote, "Lexie eating French toast in season 5, meanwhile she’d just gone into anaphylactic shock over eating eggs in the last season." While this is definitely a small thing compared to other storylines involving this character, it's still confusing.

What Happened To Webber's Mom?

Richard Webbe looking serious in Grey's Anatomy.

Richard Webber has had an impressive career and watching him as a parental figure to Meredith is always heartwarming. A fan pointed out that Richard's family backstory doesn't add up.

Redditor FiretotherainJim noted that Richard says a few different things about his mom. The fan wrote, "Webber says in 10x01 that both his parents were in his white coat ceremony when he became a doctor but later states multiple times that he lost his mother young."

Would Jo Still Be A Resident?

Jo and Bailey talking on Grey's Anatomy

Jo Wilson is one of the strongest characters who opens up to Alex Karev when they bond and begin dating. One Redditor noticed that the timing of Jo's work at the hospital doesn't actually make sense as she would be a resident for too much time.

The fan wrote, "Jo apparently begins her residency shortly before Mark Sloan's death, then gets married in June 2018, six years later, still a resident." This does seem odd considering residents are supposed to becoming attendings in a shorter time period.

Wouldn't Jackson's Training Take Longer?

Jackson Avery smiling in Grey's Anatomy

Jackson Avery reaches a high position at Grey Sloan, but it does seem like this happens in a short amount of time given the amount of education and training that he would need.

One Redditor who works with ENTs said "not only does Jackson need his Plastics fellowship (under whom, as you said) but he always claims to be double boarded in ENT...which also 100% requires a 3 year fellowship on top of the 5 year residency."
