A new video for Grey's Anatomy season 19 finds Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey introducing a new class of interns to the long-running series. The ABC medical drama focuses on the many everyday trials of the staff at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Grey's Anatomy season 19 is set to premiere on October 6; this premiere comes amid major changes to the series and rumors that the end could be near.

Announced in January 2022, Grey's Anatomy season 19 will continue following the Grey Sloan staff as they do their best to treat patients and save lives through their work. While the season will continue to feature Pompeo's titular character, it was previously confirmed that her role on Grey's Anatomy would be significantly reduced, with the star only appearing in a handful of the upcoming episodes. Meanwhile, the show is set to introduce a slew of new interns to help shepherd everything forward.

In a video uploaded by TVLine, fans get their first glimpse at Grey's Anatomy season 19, starting with Meredith introducing the new class of interns to Grey Sloan. Alongside footage of Meredith and the interns hard at work, new cast members Alexis Floyd, Adelaide Kane, Niko Terho, Harry Shum Jr., and Midori Francis give brief introductions to their characters while teasing the upcoming storylines. Check out the video below.

Grey's Anatomy has weathered plenty of major cast changes over the years, but there's little question that season 19's new batch of interns signals a major turn for the series. Though Meredith will ultimately be taking a backseat in the upcoming episodes, she will at least be there for the beginning of the new characters' journeys. This is rather fitting; Meredith and her class of interns kicked off Grey's Anatomy, and now, as her tenure seems to be wrapping up (or at least slowing down), she's welcoming a new group of bright-eyed students. Much of Grey's Anatomy season 19 will focus on these characters, but as the video showed, it will still hold onto familiar faces like Amelia Shepherd and Teddy Altman. The new will mix with the familiar.

Grey's Anatomy season 19 is shaping up to be a pivotal run for the medical drama, as a new cast steps up while longtime favorites take supporting roles. While the show's new stars have teased their character's stories in previous interviews, the newly released teaser video has offered a more in-depth glimpse at what to expect from the new status quo for Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. With this new class of interns set to take center stage, Grey's Anatomy season 19 may breathe new life into ABC's long-running medical drama.
