Warning! SPOILERS for Grey's Anatomy season 19 episode 3 ahead. The season 18's ending cliffhanger might have shown Meredith pushing Nick away, but Grey's Anatomy season 19 quickly confirmed that the pair are endgame, despite being away for six months. Grey's Anatomy season 19, episode 1 perfectly set up Nick and Meredith's meeting again after the way they left things in the season 18 finale, as a terrible bus accident brought most transplant surgeons in the country to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. However, while things were rocky at first and any chance to talk to each other turned awkward, Grey's Anatomy season 19, episode 2 finally let Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) explain her point of view to Nick (Scott Speedman) and admit she still loved him.

Grey's Anatomy season 19 also subtly established how Meredith had been miserable those six months missing Nick but also unable to share her feelings for him as she felt betrayed by Nick taking her words at face value after Meredith lost a patient in Grey's Anatomy season 18 finale. Given how Nick and Meredith clicked back together as a couple after Meredith finally admitted her feelings for him, it's unlikely there will be other romances for Meredith in the future. This is also supported by Meredith's Ellen Pompeo only signing for eight episodes in Grey's Anatomy season 19, making a new romance for Meredith quite unlikely, as there wouldn't be time to explore it. The clues all but confirm Meredith and Nick being endgame in Grey's Anatomy season 19.

How There's Still Hope For Meredith & Nick

Meredith and Nick might still need to find their footing in their new relationship in Seattle, but everything seen in Grey's Anatomy season 19 episodes 1 to 3 hints at them durably staying together. Not only did they clearly love each other, but they also easily found a way to spend time together, despite the fact that Nick's new job as chief of the residency program and Meredith's interim chief position took a lot of energy and commitment from the both of them. Even as they had to face new problems - such as Nick and Maggie not contacting Meredith straight away before letting Kai test Zola's cognitive functions - Nick and Meredith managed to meet in the middle, with Meredith quickly burying the hatchet and forgiving Nick.

Why It's Unlikely Grey's Anatomy S19 Will Focus On Other Meredith Romances

Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey in Grey's Anatomy season 19

Grey's Anatomy season 18 introduced Nick as a potential love interest, but it also still included Richard Flood's Cormac Hayes, for whom Meredith had some lingering feelings despite things not working out. Differently, Grey's Anatomy season 19 already established Nick as the only romantic interest on Meredith's mind, highlighted by how quickly things between them went back to normal as Nick finally obtained what he wanted – Meredith expressively voicing her feelings for him. Keeping also in mind that Meredith will only be present for eight episodes of Grey's Anatomy season 19, it wouldn't really make sense story-wise to introduce another romantic interest for Meredith, as there's already a lot on her plate between running Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and find time for Nick and her family.

All these clues easily point to Meredith and Nick staying together in the long run - or for at least Grey's Anatomy season 19. Considering their strong bond and how there's little time to develop any other romantic storyline for Meredith, it's unlikely that the medical drama would introduce another romantic pairing for Grey's Anatomy's protagonist, especially as Meredith will have to focus all her energies on Zola's needs. By setting up all these major storylines about Meredith this way, Grey's Anatomy season 19 finally confirmed that Meredith and Nick are endgame for the show.
