Warning! SPOILERS about Grey’s Anatomy season 19, episodes 14 & 15 ahead.

Grey’s Anatomy season 19 might have established Lucas as one of Simone’s closest friends at Grey Sloan Memorial, but it also continued hinting at Jules potentially becoming for Simone what Cristina was for Meredith. From the moment Simone agreed to marry her ex-fiancé in Grey’s Anatomy season 19, episode 9, she had to divide her life between her surgical internship and wedding planning. While Lucas might have accepted to be her man of honor despite what happened between them, Simone still found support in Jules’ help, even if their values didn’t necessarily match in Grey’s Anatomy season 19, episode 14.

The interns’ single-mindedness was as widespread in Grey’s Anatomy season 1 as it was in Grey’s Anatomy season 19. Meredith and Cristina happening to get close could be likened to Simone and Jules’ relationship. After all, Simone was there for Jules after she couldn’t control her patient’s bleeding that well in Grey’s Anatomy season 19, episode 2, only because Meredith reminded her that the other interns were Simone’s people, the only ones who could understand what she was going through in her line of work, success and failure. Jules and Simone’s budding friendship is reminiscent of Meredith and Cristina’s because of how different they are and their story.

Grey’s’ Jules Helping Simone Judgment Free Makes Her The Perfect Cristina

Jules’ aversion to marriage and everything it represented became clear in Grey’s Anatomy season 19, episode 14, in a way that even got on Simone’s nerves because of how much Jules mentioned it. While Simone’s attempts at finding successful female surgeons that were also married could have seemed like she was trying to convince herself of the benefits of marriage rather than Jules, it became clear that it had more to do with Simone’s inability to deal with wedding planning than a potential regret to marry her ex-fiancé. Jules offering her help in Grey’s Anatomy season 19, episode 14, steadily put her on track to become Simone’s person.

Given Jules’ focus on everything surgery-related, the fact that she stopped practicing her sutures to get Simone’s measurements showed an understanding of Simone’s worries and stressed state, even if she didn’t share her values about marriage at all. Not only did Jules help Simone, but she also did so judgment-free in Grey’s Anatomy season 19, episode 14, showing a willingness to support Simone even if their core values differ. This evokes Meredith and Cristina’s early interactions, where they would be there for each other even if they disagreed with what the other was doing about something, making Simone and Jules become each other’s person, eventually more probable.

Jules & Simone’s Storylines & Values Are Reminiscent Of Cristina & Meredith

While Meredith had as much of a hand in getting Simone to support Jules when she struggled to control her patient’s bleeding as Simone, who actually cheered up Jules her own way, Jules and Simone could resemble Cristina and Meredith even for their stories and values. Indeed, while Cristina and Jules’ pasts couldn’t be more different, their key qualities make them similar as interns. Indeed, both Cristina and Jules were single-mindedly focused on becoming better surgeons and spent every waking moment bettering their skills. Adding to that Jules’ practical yet unusual housing situation, it’s evident that Jules is the intern more similar to Cristina in Grey’s Anatomy season 19.

Simultaneously, Simone’s Meredith similarities became obvious throughout Grey’s Anatomy season 19. Between the tragic backstory that indissolubly linked Simone to Grey Sloan like Meredith was to the hospital, and their hands-on knowledge of caring for someone with Alzheimer’s, Simone is closer to Meredith than any other intern. Adding to that Simone’s proclivity for impulsive decisions, like accepting her ex-fiancé’s proposal and risking destroying everything by almost hooking up with Lucas, it’d be very difficult to compare Simone to anybody but Meredith. All these similarities and the clear support they both showed toward each other clearly hint at Simone and Jules becoming each other’s person in Grey’s Anatomy season 19.
