Grey's Anatomy season 17 has just gone on a break after its midseason finale. With 6 episodes down, there are many things fans hope will be shown and cleared up in this season. There have been many discussions surrounding whether this is going to be the final season.
Different cast members have come out and said different things about where they think the show is going. But Grey's Anatomy has been going strong for so many years and seasons now. Since a couple of familiar faces have made a return and the writers have made sure the storylines they have created are responsible and respectful, fans are intrigued to see what else is unfolding.
What Happens Between Meredith And Hayes
Cormac Hayes was literally sent by Cristina to Meredith as a gift. Dubbed McWidow, Hayes and Meredith seemed to have immediately hit it off because of the many things that drew them together from their history.
However, the first 6 episodes haven't allowed fans to see whether there is a possibility of something happening between them. Hayes has appeared very minimally so far, and DeLuca is also there in the background, so it'll be interesting to see if Hayes and Meredith actually get together.
Seeing Amelia With Her Son
Amelia has had a rough time on the show. With the brain tumor, terrible marriage to Owen, her drug-addiction problems, all added to her anxieties over her pregnancy, it was all very dark for Amelia.
But now she's with Link and they have a son together. Amelia seems to be in a much better place than before. It would be very satisfying for fans to be able to see Amelia spend some joyful time with her new family.
Resolution Of The Human Trafficking Storyline
This was a very difficult storyline, especially for DeLuca since everyone refused to take him seriously because he was having a bipolar episode. But DeLuca was right, and episode 6 saw that story being brought back again.
It would be good to see some closure on the matter and see the criminals being caught finally. And it would be very interesting to see how Grey's tackles this issue and DeLuca's mental health issues as well.
Finding Out Why Teddy Did What She Did
Richard has asked Teddy to take inventory to figure out why she did what she did. Teddy seems to be incredibly confused and lost, and despite having this amazing family that she wanted, she purposefully seems to be sabotaging it.
Owen is incredibly hurt, and fans have discovered new things about Teddy's history as well. It would be good to give Teddy more time and space to explain herself and see that storyline through as well.
Meredith Hopefully Coming Out Of The Ventilator
Meredith woke up and was laughing and it seemed like everything was going well and she would be out of the hospital in a week or so. But then everything went downhill and the midseason finale ended with Meredith being put on the ventilator, which is technically a last-ditch effort.
It would be incredibly sad if this is how Meredith dies on Grey's Anatomy and so fans are looking forward to her being off the ventilator soon.
Finding Out Whether Jo Actually Does Quit Surgery
Jo was an incredibly motivated and excited resident, but ever since she became an attending, she doesn't seem to really enjoy surgery like the others around her.
There was a lot that went down in her personal life that could potentially be contributing to this, but Jo is seriously considering quitting surgery to do something that brings her joy. Jo definitely deserves joy in her life and fans are looking forward to seeing what she's actually going to do about it.
Getting To Know Maggie's New Boyfriend Better
Winston and Maggie, like many people during the pandemic, have mostly been dating virtually. They do video calls and it becomes the highlight of their day. It's a nice way to capture the early romance between these two characters, especially as both surgeons are looking for ways to connect with one another while they also deal with the stress of the job.
Winston seems like a really nice guy, and someone who really gets Maggie, and it'll be fun to see how this relationship plays out.
Return Of Old Cast Members
With Derek Shepherd and George O'Malley making appearances on Grey's, fans are excited to see more. It is already promised that Derek will definitely make more appearances over the course of the season, so fans are really excited about that.
But they are also looking forward to see who else will make a reappearance on the show with many wild fan theories going around. Fans are definitely excited to see more old cast members come back to this beloved and long-running show.
A Good Series Finale If It Is The Final Season
No one is sure if season 17 of Grey's Anatomy is going to be the final season of the show. But with Ellen Pompeo's contract coming to end, there is ample reason to believe that this might be it.
In which case, fans are really looking forward to an amazing series finale for this show that has taken its fans on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
A Post-Covid Grey's Anatomy World
New episodes for season 17 will return in March 2021. That's quite a long duration of time before the show returns and with the world being as incredibly unpredictable as it has been lately, no one can be quite sure about what March 2021 will look like.
Grey's has done an incredible job of portraying the hospital and the doctors dealing with Covid -19. But fans really hope that they are able to see a bit of normalcy in the remainder of season 17 and see Grey's return to its usual dramatic hospital chaos that wasn't as dark as it is now.
