Every character in Grey's is flawed and human, trying to get through life in all its joy, happiness, while also combating the terrible pain and loss that comes with it. All the surgeons have proven to have their own strengths and weaknesses. However, the majority of fans will agree that they have one favorite surgeon that stands above the rest. Here's what your favorite Grey's character says about you.

Jo Wilson

Jo Wilson has struggled all her life. She had lived on the streets, attended medical school, and is now trying to find the perfect way to balance her professional and personal life. She was also abandoned as a baby. However, through sheer grit and tenacity, Jo has managed to overcome the odds stacked against her and accomplished a lot.

If Jo is your favorite character, then you are persevering and strong, and able to make lemonade from lemons that life throws at you.

Amelia Shepherd

Amelia Shepherd, too, has had plenty of challenges in her life. From losing her baby, her older brother, to her life-changing tumor, Amelia has been through a lot. However, as the seasons go on, Amelia has shown great fortitude and resilience, channeling her pain into her work to ensure that no one experiences the same heartbreak.

If you love Amelia, and god knows she is loveable in her own way, you might be a little bold and impulsive. However, you can also be very rational and calm when need be, especially if one of your family or friends needs help.

Alex Karev

Alex Karev started out as one of the least likable characters on the show. However, over the years, his arc made him into one of the most loveable and even dependable members of the Grey's gang. Alex came to replace Cristina as Meredith's 'person' and became a genial friend and brilliant peds surgeon.

If one chooses Alex as their favorite Grey's character, they may be able to relate to the way he uses anger as a defense mechanism. People may misunderstand you at first but will eventually see what a kind and caring person you are deep down.

Jackson Avery

Jackson in Grey's Anatomy

Jackson Avery is easily one of the most reliable, intelligent and adorable characters in the Grey's universe. He may be a handsome (rich) bachelor but Jackson makes it known that he doesn't care about this part of his life. Rather, he exudes much pride over being a great plastic surgeon and father overall.

Someone who considers Jackson their favorite character would probably be easy-going and eager to make their own way in the world. They would also have strong leadership skills and are a good friend too.

Richard Webber

Richard taking to Bailey

Richard has held the hospital together through all its ups and downs and mentored nearly all the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial - including the current Chief of Surgery, Miranda Bailey.

Anyone who likes Richard would be old-school believing in the value of hard work and not taking the short cut to success. Since Richard is a recovering alcoholic, those who love him are likely to be very compassionate and understanding too.

Owen Hunt

Kevin McKidd As Hunt in Musical Epsiode

Owen Hunt joined the series as the macho trauma surgeon with a history of working for the military. Owen was the typical alpha male, driven and authoritative, who immediately caught Cristina's attention.

Considering Owen a favorite means you would value life over all else. You would also hold your family in high esteem, and their well-being would be your top priority.

Miranda Bailey

Miranda Bailey is by far one of the most beloved Grey's characters. Chandra Wilson has literally breathed life into this role, making her an accomplished, empowered woman in what is often deemed a man's world. But in spite of her position, Bailey is also profoundly human, and an instant fan-favorite.

If Bailey is the one you root for the most, this means that you are eager to make your own mark in the world, and ready to work hard to achieve your goals. You are also compassionate and caring, even though you might at times pretend not to be.

Cristina Yang

Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang in Grey's Anatomy.

Another raging fan-favorite for years was Cristina Yang. Competitive and ambitious, Cristina was largely mechanical. However, many fans believe she used this as a defense mechanism after watching her father die when she was very young, and had perhaps cultivated the unemotional attitude to cocoon herself from further trauma. Nevertheless, Cristina eventually developed into a great and considerate surgeon.

Anyone who picks Cristina as a favorite may be extremely competitive and high-functioning by nature, or at least adoring to be so. At the same time, they would have an admirable steely resolve and would be level-headed in high pressured situations.

Derek Shepherd

The Prince Charming of Grey's Anatomy, Derek 'McDreamy' Shepherd, has stolen countless hearts from the very first episode of the hit medical drama. Derek, on top of being super dreamy, had seen some ups and downs in his life. His father was murdered in front of him when he was still young, and his wife of several years cheated on him with his best friend.

For those who love Derek, one may assume that the person likes to live their lives oozing elegance and suavity. They might also be very career-driven and ambitious too.

Meredith Grey

The series's central protagonist, Meredith, has been a role model for many young girls and women over the years. Not only is she beautiful and brilliant, but she is by far one of the most successful surgeons the show has ever seen.

If you love Meredith, you know what it takes to overcome one obstacle after another, or at the very least you appreciate the growth and maturity that Meredith has shown. You may be a realist but this may also be seen as a strength as you know how to deal with a problem accordingly and help provide some sage advice.
