What if our favorite characters from the hit ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy were Disney princes and princesses in some parallel universe? What if Derek and Meredith and Izzie and Alex were all part of some huge Disney movie with each of them having a very specific Disney counterpart?

Disney characters are everybody's favorites and so are the characters from this long-running show that has only recently kicked off its seventeenth season. Here's a look at a few Grey's Anatomy characters and their possible Disney counterparts.

George O'Malley: Bambi

George O'Malley as Bambi

George O'Malley was the adorably goofy, perennially lost friend in Meredith's initial gang of surgical interns and residents.

The Grey's characters themselves named George Bambi, after Disney's cute, bashful little fawn blundering about cluelessly. George was indeed the Bambi of the group, soft-hearted and confused, scuttling off here and there looking lost, although in time he matured into someone capable of taking a stand, just like Bambi did.

Andrew DeLuca: Simba

Andrew DeLuca as Simba

DeLuca might look like a bull in a china shop but there is a childlike innocence in him that is strangely appealing.

DeLuca might not be inspired by his father the way Simba had been but he is energetic and full of good intentions. He also has that wide-eyed naivety that is reminiscent of a young Simba first thrust into the cruel world.

Alex Karev: The Beast

Alex as the Beast

Much like the Beast from 'Beauty And The Beast', Alex had started out as the quintessential streetsmart kid, selfish and arrogant.

But again, like the Beast, there was within him a mellower, more humane individual, who emerged gradually as the series progressed. In time he became one of Meredith's pillars of strength and took Cristina's place as her 'person'. Goes without saying, beneath his rough exterior, Alex was a sincere, gentle person, just like the Beast.

Isobel Stevens: Belle

Izzie Stevens as Belle

If Alex is the Beast, then, of course, Izzie Stevens, the woman who saved him has to be Belle, the young girl who saved the Beast by helping to lift the dark spell that had turned him into a monster in the first place.

Izzie had that spirited aura of goodness about her that could easily make her a Belle. She was driven by compassion and saw purity and good in the most unlikely of places.

Maggie Pierce: Mary Poppins

Maggie Pierce as Mary Poppins

Maggie Price might be a confused soul but she does have the air of efficiency and goodwill about her, and she is great with Meredith's kids whom she loves like her own.

Maggie called herself a super aunt at times, having expertly taken care of the children and the house. She doesn't get things done by magic but by sheer grit, which makes her a modern-day Mary Poppins of sorts.

Amelia: Elsa

Amelia Shepherd Elsa

Amelia is a perpetually misunderstood character, conflicted and chaotic for the most part. However, she is also an exceptional surgeon and despite being a scatterbrain, she has overcome many odds in her life.

The misunderstood aspect of her character makes her rather like Elsa from Frozen. Like Amelia who is unable to control her highly volatile nature, Elsa too finds it hard to manipulate her powers.

Miranda Bailey: Mulan

Bailey as Mulan

Often touted as one of the best Disney princesses, Mulan is bold, spirited, straightforward, and relatable. She isn't a princess per se, like Jasmine or Snow White, but takes her place amongst the other Disney heroines through sheer grit.

Miranda Bailey, the current Chief of Surgery at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, is one of the bravest and most heroic characters in the show, having worked incredibly hard to achieve her dreams. Miranda is most definitely the real world Mulan.

Richard Webber: Merlin

Richard Webber Merlin

Richard Webber is the grand ol' man of the hospital in Grey's, the one man who held the place together through all its ups and downs.

Richard is like the wise and powerful wizard master Merlin. Although not as amnesiac as Merlin, Richard can get irritated at a moment's notice and can send people scurrying by imposing his authority.

Derek Shepherd: Prince Charming

Derek Shepherd Prince Charming

The incredibly handsome Derek Shepherd could only be one Disney prince and that is the quintessential Prince Charming. In fact, the character looked so literally as if it had come out from the pages of a fairy tale that the writers themselves coined the term 'McDreamy' to refer to Derek.

Derek came into Meredith's life, rather like Prince Charming himself, taught her how to love much like the Prince's kiss, and then disappeared from her life shockingly, keeping true to the adage that fairy tales hardly ever come true.

Meredith Grey: Snow White

Meredith Grey Snow White

If Derek was Prince Charming then Meredith is most definitely Snow White, the damsel who needed saving by her Prince and then overcame one obstacle after another herself.

Meredith started out as a fragile-looking young woman, uncertain about her choice of profession and leading a chaotic love life, but in time, she has matured into an empowered woman who went from strength to strength through every trauma she has faced in her life, which is many.
