Most television shows are considered successful if they run for a few years before getting canceled or having fans lose interest. The cast is grateful if they get to see one hundred episodes, and with Grey's Anatomy, the show has tripled that with over three hundred and sixty episodes to date!
Once a show is established, it's amazing to see each new turn it takes as it continues to come out with season after season. The second half of Grey's Anatomy's seasons have some great episodes, as rated by fans on IMDb. Here is the best episode from seasons nine to sixteen:
Season 9: Episode 2 Remember The Time - 8.9
Two episodes have a top score of 8.9 this season, but this one is definitely memorable. It can be difficult to deal with a traumatic event, and the doctors who were in a plane crash experience this head on. This episode involves a lot of flashbacks to the accident, and viewers learn about what happened to each person on the plane and how the event is affecting them. Cristina has become violent to the point of needing to be restrained in her hospital bed, and then she goes silent and refuses to talk to anyone. Mark seems to be doing extremely well before taking a turn for the worse.
Season 10: Episode 24 Fear (Of The Unknown) - 9.4
Cristina has accepted a job position in Zurich, and she is saying her goodbyes and tying up loose ends at the Seattle hospital. While she leaves her position on the board to Alex, Webber nominates Bailey to become a board member. April is worrying about having Jackson's baby, and Callie and Arizona are discussing whether surrogacy would be a good option for them to have their own child. Derek wants Meredith to move to DC with him so that he can take a new job, but Meredith doesn't want to leave Seattle.
Season 11: Episode 14 The Distance - 8.9
After a lot of convincing, Herman has agreed to have surgery on her brain tumor. She had originally given up all hope, but Amelia is sure that she can remove it.
The time has finally come for the surgery to take place, and while Amelia is somewhat worried about how important a task this is, she still heads into the procedure with confidence and Stephanie by her side. However, once she gets inside and sees what the tumor is really about, she realizes that the task is going to be much more complicated that she originally thought.
Season 12: Episode 9 The Sound Of Silence - 9.3
After being left a lone with a patient, Meredith get brutally attacked and beaten when the patient becomes aggressive after a seizure. Meredith is left battered on the floor, but she is eventually found by Penny. The doctors work quickly to try and save Meredith's life, but her injuries are severe. Among the consequences are being unable to talk or hear, and she must have her jaw wired shut. She struggles with recovery as she refuses to let the man apologize once he is better, and she has a panic attack after her kids are afraid to see her.
Season 13: Episode 23 True Colors - 8.7
After receiving news about his found sister who was originally MIA, Owen begins to experience PTSD symptoms, including erratic behavior. Arrangements get made to transfer her to the hospital from Germany. Meanwhile, a patient who held a girl at knife point and raped her has disappeared along with Stephanie. The hospital goes into a lock down until they can be located, but the two get trapped on an otherwise empty floor with a young girl who's sister is a hospital patient. Stephanie has to think fast if she is going to safe herself and the child.
Season 14: Episode 7 Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story - 9.1
At a local fair, a roller coaster car has fallen off of the tracks, injuring several people, and the patients that come into the hospital stir up some old memories for the doctors. First, Cleo and Greg, who were in the roller coaster car, appear to look like Cristina, who moved several years ago, and George, who passed away after saving a woman from getting hit by a bus.
This freaks Meredith out a little bit, and she can't help but stare at Cleo and Greg. Their friend Liza comes in with them, whom Alex and Meredith think looks like Izzie. Not only that, but Liza ends up having a tumor, just like Izzie did.
Season 15: Episode 19 Silent All These Years - 9.5
A woman named Abby comes to the hospital after being raped, and Jo takes on her case, having also been a victim of assault in her past. Along with Teddy, Jo tenderly cares for Abby, letting her know that she is safe and getting her permission before doing each part of their check up. After Abby tells them that every man's face she sees reminds her of the man who raped her, they ban men from the hallways while taking Abby to surgery, and instead, many women line up to show her friendly faces and reassure her that she is safe.
Season 16: Episode 8 My Shot - 9.0
The day has arrived where Meredith is to meet with the Medical Board to decide if she will be able to keep her medical license. The episode features many flashbacks to all of the bad decisions Meredith has made throughout her career as she anxiously begins her trial. Unfortunately, one of the men on the board is responsible for Derek's death because he did not order the proper tests that could have saved him, and Meredith is not happy about seeing him again.
