HBO Max's Green Lantern live-action show is set to star John Stewart as the leading character, and fans of the Justice League Snyder Cut are campaigning for Wayne T. Carr's cut version to headline the series. Despite the many shake-ups that have been taking place at Warner Bros. Discovery, HBO Max's upcoming Green Lantern TV show is still a go. However, the project hit a snag as the Greg Berlanti-produced drama lost its showrunner Seth Grahame-Smith after being attached since 2020 when HBO Max picked up Green Lantern to series. The DC TV series was set to follow Alan Scott, Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, Bree Jarta, Sinestro, and Kilowog, across multiple time periods.Instead, Green Lantern will focus on John Stewart, one of the most popular members of the Green Lantern Corps. Before the HBO Max series retooling, the Green Lantern team couldn't use John due to DC Films having other plans for him. This was the same reason why Zack Snyder's Justice League cut couldn't feature the Emerald Knight, as Carr had been tapped to bring John to life. While the Snyder Cut was eventually released on HBO Max, the deleted scene with Carr's take on John has still never been shown in its entirety, and only through images that the director has released online.RELATED: How The Green Lantern Movie & TV Show Can Be ConnectedWith the news that John will be the central character of the Green Lantern TV show, it got the attention of several Snyder Cut fans. While casting won't start for quite some time, Snyder Cut fans took to Twitter as they campaign for Carr to get another chance at playing the iconic Green Lantern character for Berlanti's HBO Max adaptation. Why HBO Max's Green Lantern Could Theoretically Use Snyder's John Stewart

While HBO Max's Green Lantern show is, as of right now, part of a separate continuity, as is the Snyder Cut, there are several reasons they could potentially use Carr's John. Since former DC Films boss Walter Hamada, who was one of the reasons why John wasn't allowed to be used in other DC properties outside the stuck-in-development-hell Green Lantern Corps movie, is now gone, the regime has changed, especially with the formation of DC Studios. Depending on who is tapped as the new Green Lantern showrunner, if they are permitted the new DC Studios bosses to either set the show in the Snyderverse or at least cast Carr as a different John, then the actor could finally get a chance at playing the DC icon after getting cut from the final product.

In the end, it depends on how Green Lantern fits into DC Studios' overall plans because if it has the freedom to connect to the Snyderverse, there is no reason why they couldn't get Carr as John. Before the regime change at Warner Bros. Discovery, the studio had stated that it wasn't planning on continuing the Snyderverse following the release of Justice League on HBO Max. However, with new management in place and Green Lantern starting fresh, perhaps Snyder Cut fans will see Carr suit up as John and this time in a bigger capacity.
