Eiza González is transformed into Jessica Cruz in a new piece of fan art for HBO Max's Green Lantern TV show. Nearly a decade after Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern hit theaters, DC's group of intergalactic protectors are finally about to get rebooted. In addition to the long-gestating movie reboot, HBO Max is developing a live-action TV series based around the Green Lantern Corps.

The Green Lantern series comes from Arrowverse producer Greg Berlanti, with Seth Grahame-Smith and Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim writing the show. Instead of giving Hal Jordan another starring role or making John Stewart the focus, though, Green Lantern will span multiple years and include several different Lanterns. The lineup is set to include Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, Alan Scott, Sinestro, and Kilowog. This collection of Lanterns has left fans to wonder who will be cast in the pivotal roles.

HBO Max has yet to announce any cast members for Green Lantern, but a new piece of fan art from BossLogic suggests who should play Jessica Cruz. The artist's latest piece imagines what Eiza González could look like as the fan-favorite Green Lantern. The design gives Cruz's suit more of an armored style while maintaining her unique signature look of a Lantern symbol over her right eye.

Jessica Cruz has only been around in DC Comics since 2014, but she has quickly established herself as one of the best Green Lantern characters. Although she is a superhero, Cruz constantly struggles with her powers due to anxiety and PTSD. These elements have helped Cruz shine a spotlight on mental health, all while having a story that focuses on turning fear into strength. There has yet to be any indication of what type of actress DC is looking for to play the popular Latinx superhero on Green Lantern, but González could be an excellent choice.

For many, González burst onto the scene in 2017 with her role in Edgar Wright's Baby Driver, and she's experienced a busy few years after. The actress had supporting roles in Welcome to Marwen and I Care A Lot. González also has experience with bigger franchises and productions thanks to Alita: Battle AngelFast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Bloodshot, and her upcoming role in Godzilla vs. Kong. Taking on the role of Jessica Cruz would be a huge step for González and an exciting challenge for her. There's no doubt that she has the talent to flourish playing a layered character like Cruz. González is already high on many fan lists to play her, so it will merely be a matter of seeing if she gets the chance now. The studios are sure to look high and low for the perfect actress to potentially play Jessica Cruz for years to come, but hopefully they'll at least consider González for Green Lantern.
