Finn Wittrock jokes that he can't wait to see how skin-tight his Green Lantern costume will be. Ten years after Ryan Reynolds' misfire and as WB is looking to develop a Green Lantern Corps. movie, HBO Max is finally revisiting the popular DC property. The Green Lantern streaming series, created by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Seth Grahame-Smith, went into development in 2019. It's expected to cover decades-worth of Green Lantern lore, featuring characters like Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, and Alan Scott. It will not, however, feature popular characters like Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

Until recently, Green Lantern still appeared to be in the early development stages. That might still be the case, but the show can at least count one star among its ranks: American Horror Story alum Finn Wittrock. Just a few weeks ago, Wittrock was cast as Guy Gardner, a comics character who was first created in 1968. He's been described as "hulking mass of masculinity" and "an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism," and his story will reportedly kick off in 1984 alongside a half-alien Lantern named Bree Jarta, who has yet to be cast.

Until more cast members are added, all eyes are on Wittrock to supply new info about Green Lantern. The actor recently sat down with Rotten Tomatoes to discuss his new movie Long Weekend, but naturally conversation briefly turned to Green Lantern. On the subject of his costume, Wittrock admitted he hasn't seen it yet, nor has he been fitted for it. However, he's definitely excited for one part: "I'm very interested to see quite how skin-tight this Green Lantern [suit] will be," he said, since in the comics there's "not a whole lot of wiggle room."

Wittrock then went on to say he hasn't "seen much. It's still early, 'cause we don't start filming for a while." It seems likely that Green Lantern is putting more focus in assembling its cast before moving onto costume fittings. Elsewhere in the interview, Wittrock shared his audition process for Green Lantern, which he described as "way bigger" than he expected. That appears to indicate HBO Max is really going all out when casting the show. So far, Wittrock is the only one to have been announced, but more performers could be added within the coming weeks.

Superhero costumes are a major point of interest among fans, and stars have often described that magical feeling when they put on their suits for the first time. Reynolds' Green Lantern costume was famously comprised of a lot of CGI, so hopefully Wittrock gets something a bit more practical for the show. At the same time, it's smart that he's already bracing himself for a really tight fit. It isn't yet clear how many Green Lantern episodes will feature Wittrock, but he might have to wear his costume frequently. Hopefully he'll get to see it soon!
