New 'Green Lantern' Poster & 'Captain America' Image

Captain America and Green Lantern

With Thor already in theaters and X-Men: First Class releasing in three weeks, there are still another two major superhero blockbusters still to come later this summer. One of them will take us into space and the other, back to World War II.

A brand new poster for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's Green Lantern has debuted, featuring the film's primary antagonist. On the Marvel Studios side, a new still featuring an enemy combatant has been officially released.

First up is the new Green Lantern character poster for Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) which features the character after his unfortunate transformation and head enlargement. While it's not confirmed, many speculate that the entity known as Parallax takes on Hammond as a host and hence, his eyes glow yellow. In the 'Secret Origins' comics however, Hammond comes into contact with Abin Sur's crashed alien ship and a meteor fragment causes him to transform. The latter theory is more in line with what we see in the Green Lantern trailer with Hammond becoming affected while examining Abin Sur's body.

Next is an official still taken from Captain America: The First Avenger which showcases the costumes and weapons used by Red Skull's Hydra forces. The tech is way ahead of its time and looks nothing like the attire and firearms used in WWII. The over-the-top Hydra designs and vehicles may make Captain America a tougher sell due to its loss of authenticity, but if what we hear of the the film's plot details - and how it ties into The Avengers - are true, it shouldn't be a problem for Marvel fans.
