Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Human Target #10!The Green Lanterns may be some of the greatest fighters in the DC Universe, but only one can be the best. The Human Target #10 reveals which member of the Corps is believed to be the best warrior to wield a Power Ring.

It goes without saying that a Power Ring is one of the best weapons in the entire DCU. Not only does it allow its users to create virtually anything they can imagine, but it gives them the power of flight and interstellar travel. And while there are a number of fringe benefits that come with a Green Lantern's Power Ring, there are also a number of drawbacks. In addition to the rings requiring to be periodically recharged, feeling fear can prevent a Lantern from using their ring properly. While mastering a Power Ring is important, a Lantern needs to know how to survive without it in a worst case scenario.

So which Lantern is the most capable whether they have their ring or not? The question seems to have been answered by one of the best experts on the space-faring heroes. In The Human Target #10 by Tom King and Greg Smallwood, Christopher Chance brings in the Green Lantern Corps’ G’nort to help Chance with his investigation. Christopher believes that Guy Gardner is alive after Chance and the Justice League Hero Ice froze and punched him to death several days earlier. The only way Christopher can confirm Guy isn’t dead is with his personnel file, so he tries his best to convince G’nort to take him to the Green Lantern base of Oa. G'nort suggests bringing in one of the more well-known Lanterns in on this. However, Chance tells G'nort that whoever got Guy could get Hal, stressing that they could even get John.

Human Target Recognizes John Stewart's Power

Human Target on John Stewart DC Comics

If anyone knows anything about the Green Lantern Corps, it’s Christopher Chance. The Human Target has presented its titular character as someone very ‘in the know’ about the DC Universe and its heroes. And Chance has routinely demonstrated how much he knows the Lanterns of Earth. Not only does he know how to manipulate G’nort, Chance has bested Guy Gardner with mind games at least twice. It’s fair to say he knows the strengths of the Corps, so he should be believed when he implies John is its best fighter.

John Stewart being the best fighter in the Corps makes sense. After all, before he came to the Green Lantern Corps, John was a member of the United States Marine Corps. Whether he has his ring or not, John has a brilliant mind, and can plan and execute successful battle tactics. Not to mention that he has gone toe-to-toe with some of the DC Universe’s most dangerous threats such as the New God Esak. Chance is someone who knows his stuff about the DCU’s heroes, and his word on John’s capabilities should carry some weight. Fans can see Christopher Chance’s knowledge on Green Lanterns for themselves in The Human Target #10, on sale now.
