Warning: contains spoilers for Dark Crisis #2!

Dark Crisis, DC's latest event following in the wake of the death of the Justice League, is well underway, and the Green Lantern Corps just entered the scene in a major way. In a world without a Justice League, it looks like the Green Lanterns will be there to protect the multiverse as the rest of Earth's heroes band together.

Dark Crisis picks up after the death of the Justice League. In Justice League #75, the League battled an army of their villains controlled by the Great Darkness, an omnipotent evil entity led by a corrupted Pariah with plans to destroy the Multiverse. Now, with the Justice League out of the way (save for a still-living Black Adam), villains across the globe begin various crime sprees. Jonathan Kent's Superman and other heroes have formed a New Justice League of their own in response while Wally West and a group of other Speedsters attempt to rescue Barry Allen, thinking he may be the key to fending off the Great Darkness.

Dark Crisis #2 comes from Joshua Williamson and Daniel Sampere. The issue concludes with Kyle Rayner attempting to break out of a prison ship in space before being retrieved by fellow Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and Jo Mullein. As Hal flies Kyle out of the ship, he reveals a large group of heroes from the Green Lantern Corps ready to combat the Dark Army, picking up where the Justice League left off. While the Dark Army is the most powerful villain team in DC's history, including figures like Darkseid and Nekron, if anyone can equal their might, it's the Green Lanterns.

Dark Crisis Green Lantern Corps replace Justice League

The last page of the issue is a huge win for any fans of the Green Lantern Corps. Nearly every notable Green Lantern appears in the full-page image, with Jordan, Mullein and Rayner joined by Earth-originating Lanterns Guy Gardner, Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz, among many others. Earth-based Lantern John Stewart was an active Justice League member who died along with the rest of his team, while Alan Scott will appear in Dark Crisis #3 with the Justice Society of America. The Green Lantern Corps' arrival gives the issue a hopeful note to end on, as the universe has been struggling to find a dominant team to replace the Justice League in the wake of their recent demise, with the next issue teasing a showdown between the Green Lantern Corps and the Dark Army.

In a new world without the Justice League, many of DC's heroes are struggling to pick up the pieces and protect the universe from both an assault on Earth and a threat to reality itself. Dark Crisis #2 brings in the natural Justice League replacement by allowing the Green Lantern Corps to enter the fray, promising an all-out brawl between the Lanterns and Pariah's Dark Army in the issues to come.
