Although they’ve often been compared to each other, Marvel’s Hawkeye cannot compete with DC’s Green Arrow in his deadliest form. When Barry Allen changed history to save the life of his mother, he created a separate DC timeline dubbed Flashpoint, where Oliver Queen was never stranded on an island nor trained to become the Green Arrow. Instead, the controversial philanthropist and weapons designer focused on making Green Arrow Industries profitable with his one-of-a-kind weapons.

In Flashpoint: Green Arrow Industries #1 by Pornsak Pichetshote, Mark Castiello, and Ig Guara, Oliver Queen is the intelligent yet arrogant face of a major military contracting company. Having almost lost everything to a corrupt business partner, Queen sunk the remainder of his money into recruiting a team designated as the Green Arrows, who would find and capture super criminals using advanced technology of their own design. Queen’s company took and repurposed that technology to better serve the military and other authorities, hoping to combat the public’s unease over the rise of superhuman criminals and the escalating conflict between Wonder Woman's Amazons and Aquaman's Atlanteans that threatened the world.

In this alternate timeline, Oliver Queen has more in common with an early Tony Stark, believing that his weapons are helping to make the world a safer place but also enjoying the riches and acclaim that come as a result. Before a group of intrigued military investors, Oliver Queen explains that his research has indicated they need to escalate their weapons capabilities to combat the rising threats to the Flashpoint world. He presents to them their latest product, the Green Arrows; advanced superpowered missiles the military could use when they want to nuke superhumans out of existence.

While Flashpoint’s original Green Arrow was once the name of a group of military enforcers, it becomes a nuclear bomb capable of devastation that Hawkeye’s trick arrows could only dream of. Marvel and DC’s archers have often been compared to each other in terms of skillset and training but here, Ollie trumps Clint when it comes to his financial resources and intelligence. With the proper motivation, Oliver Queen can create a nuclear bomb, the same nuclear missiles that Hal Jordan pilots in a tragic mission to destroy Wonder Woman’s entire military island of Themyscira in Flashpoint: Hal Jordan #3. Of course, the destruction only further escalates the conflict between the two armies instead of helping to end the threat.

After facing an opponent that kills his Green Arrows, wrecks his research facility, and injures him, Oliver Queen reveals how dangerous he could be if he never became the Green Arrow himself. Once his adversary is killed, Oliver's staff talk about repurposing her special talents for their next batch of weapons, proving despite his talk about wanting to do better with his life and company, he cannot ignore a possible moneymaker. While both Hawkeye and Green Arrow have struggled with redemption for their past sins, this version of the Green Arrow is the Emerald Archer's deadliest form, swapping his hi-tech bow and arrows for nuclear weaponry of his own design, capable of razing entire nations to the ground.
