Elvis’ Austin Butler becomes the DC Extended Universe’s Green Arrow in a new piece of fan art. Butler had his start as a professional actor in Disney and Nickelodeon shows like Hannah Montana and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide before appearing on The Shannara Chronicles and in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He recently starred as the lead in Baz Luhrmann’s musical biopic Elvis, which follows the titular rock legend’s career alongside his controlling manager, Colonel Tom Park, and famed partner, Priscilla Presley.

Following Justice League and DC Films/Warner Bros.’ abandonment of the “Snyder-Verse,” the DCEU has become increasingly aimless and focused on more self-contained projects. Still, The Suicide Squad, PeacemakerThe Batman, Black Adam, BatgirlShazam! Fury of the GodsThe Flash (before the Ezra Miller controversy), and Green Lantern Corps represent a potentially bright future for the universe, irrespective of Clark Kent. Many DC fans hope that Oliver Queen/Green Arrow will finally make his big-screen debut, following the success of The CW’s Arrow. That being said, a new rumor claims Butler could play the character in the upcoming Black Canary movie.

Now, artist @Clements.Ink posts some art on Instagram arguing Butler is the best choice for the DCEU’s Green Arrow. The piece capitalizes on those rumors by equipping the actor with the character signature a domino mask, green armor, a bow, and an arrow. Check out the artwork below:

The lesser-known Butler beat out the likes of Harry Styles, Miles Teller, and Ansel Elgort to play Elvis Presley. After spending two years on the project and fully encompassing Elvis (physically and vocally), it’s not hard to see why his performance is a common point of praise for the film. With award nominations pending, Butler appears next in the WWII miniseries Masters of Air, and he also nabbed the role of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in Dune: Part Two. Suffice to say, the actor’s profile is growing exponentially, and it won’t be long before he’s offered a comic book movie (if he hasn’t been already).

Coincidentally, Butler appeared in three episodes of Arrow season 3 in 2014 and 2015. With the multiverse in play, that shouldn’t be an issue for continuity. From The Flash and Superman and Lois to multiple Batmen, DC doesn’t have a problem doubling up on superheroes across media. While there’s no concrete evidence to suggest audiences will see Butler or Green Arrow in the DCEU, it’s not hard to imagine the character’s popularity - which inspires art like the piece above - to have prompted the conversation.
