Green Arrow and Aquaman are set to star in a new series from DC Comics. This marks DC's first attempt at officially pairing up the two Justice League members in a joint title. The series is titled Aquaman/Green Arrow: Deep Target and will be written by Brandon Thomas. Artists Ronan Cliquet and Ulises Arreola will draw the series with cover art by Marco Santucci and InHyuk Lee. Deep Target will debut its first issue this October.

The new series comes at the perfect time as both Justice League members are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year. The Green Arrow 80th Anniversary special released last week and is available to buy in comic book stores and digital platforms. The Aquaman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular will be released at the end of August. Additionally, both characters are without their own titles at the moment. Fans of Green Arrow and Aquaman will be delighted to hear that they are headlining a new series, together for the first time!

Aquaman/Green Arrow: Deep Target will follow the duo as they team up and throw down against their enemies. Brandon Thomas in his announcement tweet describes their adventures as "mind-bending" and "worlds altering." These are big words that tease that the threats they will be facing are not going to normal or easy to take down. It seems that they will be going after a specific target, as the title suggests, that will be perhaps cosmic or definitely someone with abilities.

Currently, they both play a big part in Brian Michael Bendis' Justice League run. It can be presumed that their budding friendship will become more prominent as the new series nears. Every book currently published by DC Comics is connected. The mastermind behind Infinite Frontier's plans is Joshua Williamson, who recently revealed that every DC title will eventually link up to the publisher's greater plans for their next crisis. Therefore, it can be assumed that the events of Deep Target could have big ramifications for DC's future. Especially with Thomas teasing that their adventure will be "worlds altering."

What makes the Aquaman/Green Arrow: Deep Target series even more fitting is that the two heroes dress in green! But  the big thing is that Green Arrow and Aquaman originally debuted together in More Fun Comics #73 in 1941. Now, for the first time, they will both lead a joint series. It's super exciting to see them get new titles, despite them heavily featuring in Justice League and Green Arrow also appearing in Bendis' new series Checkmate. The cover art teases that Green Arrow will be making a trip to Atlantis given the cover's watery setting. Deep Target will release in comic book stores and on digital platforms this October.
