Can fans of The Greatest Showman relive the movie on Netflix? Before his big break as Wolverine in the original X-Men, Hugh Jackman was already a veteran of musical theater productions such as Oklahoma!, Beauty And The Beast, and Sunset Boulevard. While his movie career flourished, he'd always take the time to return to the stage and won acclaim for his work in The Boy From Oz.

He found a way to bring his passion for musicals to the big screen with Tom Hooper's Les Misérables, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. The Greatest Showman is a biopic of P.T. Barnum, though the 2017 movie would take a few creative liberties with his life story. The musical was a long-cherished dream project for Hugh Jackman and while the reviews were somewhat mixed, the movie shocked everyone by grossing over $430 million worldwide.

The Greatest Showman's impossibly catchy songs were partly responsible for this, in addition to Jackman's spirited turn. Zac Efron and Zendaya (Spider-Man: Far From Home) also received great reviews for their supporting performances. Sadly for Netflix subscribers, The Greatest Showman isn't currently available to watch on the streaming platform. Following the merger between Disney and Fox - who produced Greatest Showman - it seems unlikely the musical will find its way to Netflix now.

Hugh Jackman as P. T. Barnum in The Greatest Showman

For viewers who wish to re-experience The Greatest Showman, it can be rented or purchased from iTunes, Amazon Video, YouTube and other platforms. The success of The Greatest Showman also shows there's an audience for lavish, big-budget musicals, but it remains to be seen if the genre has legs. The next big test will Tom Hooper's adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats. The movie version features an all-star cast, including Taylor Swift, Judi Dench, and Idris Elba, but the very mixed reaction to the first trailer - especially in regards to the CGI used to turn the cast into cats - suggests it may not repeat The Greatest Showman's success.

There's also talk of The Greatest Showman 2, with director Michael Gracey revealing a follow-up is being developed. Following the staggering success of the original, its not a shock a sequel is being considered, though no story details have been revealed. In the meantime, Hugh Jackman is keeping his vocal cords warm by embarking on concert tour The Man. The Music. The Show. This finds him performing songs from The Greatest Showman, in addition to other musical numbers. The show received strong reviews and he will return to Broadway again in 2020 for musical The Music Man.
