2019 was a pretty solid year for shows, and so was the year before, and the year before, and frankly the ten years before that. Shows have been releasing at a constant rate with solid titles in every genre, and it doesn't look to stop any time soon.

With so much great content out, and with so many shows on break, or just starting, it can be hard to keep up with it all. Now that 2020 is here, let's take a look at some of the great shows we've been waiting to see return to our screens.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Andy Samberg's absurd sense of humor may not be his personal best, but it truly complements the entire talented cast, carrying this hit comedy throughout many seasons with hilarious dialogue exchange, all in a police precinct in Brooklyn.

Returning for its seventh season this February, Brooklyn Nine-Nine hasn't changed a whole lot in its formula thus far, and it doesn't necessarily have to moving forward. Maintaining a light-hearted tone, with a good dash of wholesomeness and satire, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has found a place in many fan's hearts and will likely be appreciated until the time it ends.

The Goldbergs

In what is possibly ABC's best show in recent years, The Goldbergs brings its cheesy yet wholesome and old school charm to the screen on a very regular basis, with an impressive seven seasons and over 150 episodes to date.

Exuding a very laid back and relaxing tone, Goldbergs is formulaic, with a classic moral to be taught in every episode. Goldbergs is more than suitable for all audiences, and it's that family-friendly charm that has likely kept it going strong for so long, and with more to come.  2020 will see the much expected and comforting return of the nostalgic family.

The Good Place

Gearing up for its last season and the grand finale, The Good Place has already kicked off and is nearly over, beginning to wrap up every overarching theme of morality, humanity, purpose, and love that has weaved its way through the show's incredible four seasons.

Witty and charming, clever and fantastical, The Good Place has managed to be one of the best comedy shows on all of television as of late, bringing an incredibly unique idea to life with vibrant sets, larger than life and yet relatable and deep characters, and a story will keep you guessing every step of the way, The Good Place will likely go down as a comedy classic.

Rick and Morty

This wildly popular and even more chaotic animated future classic left everyone on a standstill at the end of 2019, and every Rick and Morty fan is on the edge of their seats, patiently awaiting more of there nihilistic and absurdist show.

The seemingly infinite possibilities within the Rick and Morty universe seem to maintain their humor and cleverness, while voice actor Justin Roiland maintains being one of the funniest men in animation altogether. Rick and Morty has not missed a beat so far, and it's highly unlikely they will here.

The Eric Andre Show

With another beautifully chaotic entry from the Adult Swim station, The Eric Andre Show has pushed it's Tim and Eric influenced brand of humor to the very limits, and in the process developed a massive following.

As one of Adult Swim's biggest hits, and one of the most absurd shows on television altogether, fans have been itching for more of Eric Andre's unique and boundary-pushing sense of humor. Having been on break for a solid three years now, the fans can finally satisfy there craving for this insane "talk show".

Westworld

Blowing many people's expectations out of the water upon release, this thrilling and dark sci-fi about a life-imitating wild west themed park was already a great premise. A godlike vacation getaway, the wonderful and equally horrifying attraction bring out both the worst and best in people, testing the human condition and moral compass while juggling philosophical dilemmas and fantastical power struggles.

Starting out with an incredible first season, Westworld blew minds with the finale of part one, leaving everyone wanting more. While season two didn't quite live up the high standards, it no doubt kept everyone waiting for more.

Good Girls

A fairly newer, and darker comedy, Good Girls features a very talented cast and a somewhat out there, yet semi-realistic plot. Held by a gritty and chaotically humorous tone, Good Girls keeps delivers a heavy dose of drama in every episode, always leaving you itching for the next piece of the story.

Now going into its third season, the show has moved into what is possibly it's most drastic and interesting direction yet, with the gears full switching at the end of the last installment.

Love, Death, & Robots

A shining example, if not one of the best, of how well made an anthology can really be, Love, Death, & Robots showcases some of the best animation used in any show to date, and some of the most creative and well-done science fiction stories to match.

With each tale following a different tone, each done by different animators, Love, Death & Robots is an utter roller coaster of a ride. Maintaining the audience's interest in such a visual-based and interesting show can seem impossible at times, but the constant unpredictable nature of the show combined with each original flavor makes it as addictive as they come.

Archer

If there was ever, in all of Archer's history, a season to be excited for, this would certainly have to be the one. Taking a major and at the time unexpected hiatus, Archer's titular character found himself in a coma, dreaming about long elaborate plots for the last few entire seasons.

While these seasons provided plenty of funny moments and creative situations, fans were clamoring to know what was actually happening in the "real" Archer world, what with the show leaving you at a major cliff hanger. With Archer finally awaking at the very end of the show's last season, everyone is on the edge of their seat, waiting to see what happens next.

Better Call Saul

Being one of the best shows on all of television is no easy feat when you have so many quality shows on at once, but being one of the best shows of all time, while also being a spinoff of another show already considered one of the best of all time? Surely that would be next to impossible, many would think, or have thought.

Better Call Saul blew minds when it maintained the quality of Breaking Bad, and while following a completely different style of writing as a different genre of show altogether. As we near the show's inevitable finale, everyone is waiting for the shows converging point.
