Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies adds five actors in supporting roles. Originating as a musical in 1971, Grease was adapted for the cinema by Randal Kleiser in 1978. The film starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in the lead roles as Danny and Sandy, narrating the story of how the former, a greaser gang leader, is forced to live a double life to pursue his love for the latter, a square Australian transfer student. Grease was a phenomenal success critically and commercially. In 1982, it was followed by a sequel, Grease 2, and Paramount+ is now rebooting the lucrative franchise for modern audiences in a new format. Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies is slated to premiere in late 2022. Earlier this year, the series' main cast featuring Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, Tricia Fukuhara, Shanel Bailey, and Madison Thompson was announced.

As per a new report by Deadline, the Grease prequel series has rounded out its supporting cast. The new additions include Charlotte Kavanagh (DC's Legends of Tomorrow) as Rosemary, Josette Halpert (Hotel Transylvania: The Series) as Dot, Nicholas McDonough as Gil, Maximo Weber Salas as Shy Guy, and Alexis Sides as Potato. No further details have been revealed for their characters, although it's been confirmed that the new actors will recur across multiple episodes in the show.

With brand new original scores and a bunch of fresh faces, Paramount+ is actively trying to get a new generation acquainted with Rydell High and its titular Pink Ladies. While the original film remains culturally and aesthetically significant even today, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies would have struggled to make an impact with the original formula. But, with a young and spirited cast, the show already seems like a thing of its own - one that can appeal to both new and returning audiences. Right now, details are slim on what the show will ultimately end up looking like, but considering that production is already underway in Vancouver, fans can expect a proper look at the series soon.
