Comic book legend Grant Morrison is helping Ahoy Comics ring in a milestone anniversary with an ambitious undertaking. Morrison spearheads a project that will bring together a murderer's row of comic book talent in honor of the publisher's special year.

Just days after Ahoy Comics revealed that it would be putting out a new anthology book, Project Cryptid, to celebrate its fifth anniversary, additional details for Ahoy Comics' celebratory year are coming out. In an exclusive announcement from CBR, Ahoy revealed that it would be launching a new 13-part prose serial, Partially Naked Came the Corpse!. The first part of the new serial will be written by Morrison and appear in the first issue of Project Cryptid. But Morrison is just one part of Ahoy Comics' new serial. The following chapters will be written by Mark Russell, Alex Segura, Torunn Grønbekk, Bryce Ingman, Carol Lay, Carrie Harris, Hanna Bahedry, Audrey Ryer, Kirk Vanderbook, Lisa Jonte, Stuart Moore and Kek-w. The additional parts of the serial will also include illustrations by John Proctor, and be featured in other upcoming Ahoy titles and specials, such as The Wrong Earth: We Can Be Heroes #1-2 and Captain Ginger: The Last Feeder #1.

Grant Morrison Helps Ahoy Comics Celebrate a Huge Anniversary

Ahoy Comics is a comic book publisher known for its offbeat, but often insightful miniseries. The company is known for its many satirical series such as Happy Hour, Billionaire Island, Justice Warriors, and Second Coming. What really separates Ahoy from the pack is the backup material found in every issue. The backups have featured short stories, poetry, and other material from both well-known writers and up-and-coming creatives.

This new project isn't the first time Grant Morrison has worked with Ahoy Comics, as they've previously worked with the publisher providing backup material for The Wrong Earth #1, Captain Ginger #1, and High Heaven #1. Morrison's name is something that no doubt catches the attention of many comic book fans (as is many of the other names attached to Partially Naked Came the Corpse!). Ahoy has been in the business for five years, and it makes sense that they're assembling a team of professionals to give their fans quality content to celebrate the occasion.

The best way to celebrate such a milestone is by going all-out with the sort of content that has helped give Ahoy its distinct identity in the past half-decade. Between Project Cryptid, Partially Naked Came the Corpse!, and the other specials Ahoy has lined up for the year, fans of the publisher have plenty to look forward to in this banner year. Fans can see Grant Morrison begin Ahoy Comics' new prose serial in Project Cryptid #1, on sale September 6th.
