Update (10/12/2021, 5:40 PM EDT): A newer, potentially contradictory retail leak suggests physical copies of GTA: The Trilogy remasters will release in December for last-gen consoles and in 2022 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. If accurate, this could refute the earlier November release date rumors or indicate physical and digital versions of GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will release separately. Rockstar Games has yet to announce the remaster collection's release date other launch details. The original story continues below.

According to a new leak, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will release this November. As of right now, the game is confirmed to release in 2021, so there's not a very large window for Rockstar to release it. Rockstar would've had two "new" Grand Theft Auto releases in 2021 had it not delayed the remaster of Grand Theft Auto V, but the collection may fill its spot.

Rockstar confirmed that the heavily rumored remastered GTA trilogy will be releasing later this year this past week. The trilogy will include Grand Theft Auto 3Vice City, and San Andreas and will release on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and for the first time, Nintendo Switch. That said, Rockstar has yet to offer any substantial details regarding the trilogy. The developer teased some general enhancements to the games, but hasn't gone in-depth or shown off any screenshots or footage of the remasters yet.

Prominent gaming insider Tom Henderson noted in an article for GamingIntel that sources have stated Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will release on November 11, 2021. Although Henderson has a solid track record and this aligns with another report of a November release for the GTA trilogy, it's still a rumor. With that said, if this rumor is true, Rockstar would be releasing the trilogy on the same day the GTA V trilogy remaster was originally slated to release before its delay.

GTA 3 Content Teased For GTA Online

The latter is now releasing in March 2022, so Rockstar may just be shifting things around. The developer has not given a concrete date for when it will share more information of the game, but it's expected to happen sometime this month. Grand Theft Auto 3's 20th anniversary is on October 22, 2021, which seems like the logical day for more information regarding these remasters. In addition, the developer will be releasing some GTA 3 content in GTA Online throughout October.

Rockstar has also confirmed it will be delisting the original versions of the GTA trilogy from digital platforms like Steam, but players can still download the originals if they own them. It seems as though this new collection will become the standard for these three games going forward. Rumors have suggested the collection is not a radically different experience and instead, it looks like a heavily modded version of the original games running on Unreal Engine. It's unclear how much this collection will cost or if there will be any new content beyond the technical enhancements, but it seems like Rockstar will share more very soon.
