The release of Grand Theft Auto VI isn’t exactly imminent, and while it’s a fact that it’s currently in development, it’s going to be a good few years before fans will ever get to play it. But the good thing is that while Grand Theft Auto V is eight years old at this point, fans are still getting so much replay value out of it.

It’s one of the best games in the series thanks to its longevity, and one of the reasons why is all of the cheat codes. Most gamers use the cheat codes to spawn vehicles or guns when they’re in sticky situations, but there are other cheats, whether they are incredibly amusing or simply advantageous, that just don’t get used enough.

Fast Run

Franklin wrecks havoc blowing up trucks with a giant gun

With Rockstar being the gold standard for open-world games, there’s a lot of terrain to explore in the giant map of GTA V. Though the game is eight years old at this point, there is still so much of the world that gamers haven’t seen, and there are secrets around every corner, whether it’s a mural on a wall or a strange sculpture.

And as the characters can only get around so fast, especially given that they slow down after a certain amount of time, unlocking the Fast Run with a cheat code is a life-saver.

Fast Swim

Just like with the Fast Run, the Fast Swim cheat code saves so much time. And as swimming levels are generally considered sluggish in every game and are a chore to get through, even in GTA V, the cheat code makes making players swim their way to yachts and jet skis a lot more bearable.

As GTA V has one of the best maps in the Grand Theft Auto series and players have moved to the sea, trying to unlock more secrets, the cheat code will come in handy more than people think.

Increase Wanted Level

With most gamers surely having completed the story mode several times over by this point, players have to keep the eight-year-old game exciting somehow, and what better way than to raise their wanted levels?

Though a cheat to raise the wanted level almost sounds like a joke, as nobody would seriously want to do that, but fans can get a lot of use out of it. As there are still players who prefer to play offline, one of the best games to play inside the game is by raising the wanted level to its fullest, time it, and see how long each player can survive before getting busted or wasted.

Explosive Punches

An exploding ignites between Michael and a civilian using Explosive Punches cheat

As the game has focused less on the story since launch, it’s tough to find new ways for an eight-year-old game to be exciting, but Explosive Punches do exactly that, and it’s part of the reason why GTA V has had such longevity. After entering the cheat code, any person the player bunches will cause an explosion and send them flying across the map.

It isn’t just punches but any melee attacks too, and it can be used on not just people, but anything, whether it’s a vehicle or a post box. But more than anything, punching a gas station is the most exciting, causing an explosion-on-explosion-like effect.

Explosive Bullets

Just like Explosive Punches, Explosive Bullets work the same way, as anything the bullet hits will totally explode, whether it’s an enemy or a garbage truck. But the reason why it’s better than Explosive Punches is that any kind of bullet for any kind of gun can be made explosive, meaning that players can even pick up sniper rifles and cause explosions from long distances.

The most fun is picking off entire jets and helicopters with just a sniper rifle.

Recharge Special Ability

Trevor goes on a rampage with a machine gun

As GTA V is the first time the series has given players multiple playable characters, one of the best things about the gameplay is how each character has their own special ability.

Franklin is able to slow down time when behind the wheel, Trevor is able to go into fits of rage, and Michael has bullet time, but they all only last for a certain amount of time until players have to wait for the meter to build back up. However, with Recharge Special Ability, players are able to have almost unlimited use of each ability, which especially helps in long gunfights.

Drunk

Michael jaggedly walks to his car using the Drunk cheat

Entering the Drunk cheat doesn’t really add much to the gameplay, but it’s possibly the funniest cheat of them all, as it sees the playable characters swaying back and forth and stringing together sentences that don’t make any sense.

Though if players’ favorite character is Trevor, chances are that they may have already played as a drunk character. When players switch to Trevor from Michael or Franklin, he can sometimes be found wasted or even waking up with a massive hangover after going on a bender the night before, and it’s why he’s one of the best characters in the series.

Flaming Bullets

Michael sets cars on fire using the Flaming Bullet cheat

If the world of Grand Theft Auto was built for anybody, it was for people who just want to watch the world burn, and even with a controller in their hands, the video game brings out the ugliest side of the nicest people.

Flaming Bullets is one way to see players’ nastier side, as it’s the quickest way to cause chaos in Los Santos. When players have entered the cheat code, anything they shoot will set on fire, and it doesn’t matter what type of bullet or gun is used.

Skyfall

Franklin hovers using the Skyfall cheat

When players enter this cheat code, the screen will cut to black, take a few seconds to load, and then cut to either Franklin, Trevor, or Michael falling from the highest altitude possible.

Gamers can control the playable character however they like, whether it’s gliding through the sky as long as possible or nosediving to the ground, and it works almost like the sky fall level where Michael is delusional and imagining aliens. One of the best offline party games to play is entering this cheat code and trying to land in a pool, and it gives players an amazing panoramic view of the map.

Low Gravity

A car hovers above ground with the low gravity cheat

After entering the cheat code for Low Gravity, it isn’t the playable character that it affects, but anything the player comes in contact with. If the player starts punching a civilian on the street, they’ll start floating into the air, and the same goes for any vehicle that the player starts driving.

The cheat is loads of fun, as it isn’t no gravity, but low gravity, meaning that things just tend to hover and slowly glide around. And in true GTA fashion, the cheat code causes absolute havoc.
