A game producer who has worked on a variety of Rockstar games attempted to explain the lack of Grand Theft Auto 6 news and why the developer may have chosen to release a next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto 5 first. The highly popular fifth installment in the long-running franchise has become one of the most successful titles in history. Rockstar and Sony recently announced that a special remastered version of the title will release on the PlayStation 5 next year with a range of technical advancements.

Rumors of Grand Theft Auto 6 have continued to circulate for some time. While Rockstar has made no official announcement regarding the game, many fans and industry insiders believe it has been in development for some time. However, players should not expect to see the game release in the near future, especially when the developer has refused to even confirm its existence or released any information about the title.

Speaking on TikTok, a former producer known as DarionL who has worked with Rockstar on previous releases explained why he thinks fans will get a next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V before a proper sequel. According to Game Rant, the producer stated that the difficulties of working with new hardware is likely to blame. "From a development standpoint, there's a lot of good reasons," said DarionL. "I've made games for a lot of new consoles. It's really hard, tech is constantly changing and it's hard to make a triple-A game at launch. You just need more time."

Continuing his explanation, the former producer said, "if I had to guess, I'd say GTA 6 isn't ready and GTA 5 will provide a nice stream of income and a fun Grand Theft Auto experience that everybody knows and loves within a year of the PlayStation 5 launching." This certainly makes sense when you consider the incredible success of Grand Theft Auto V and the fact that GTA Online brings in so much cash. Rockstar will not be in any rush to release Grand Theft Auto 6 until it is ready.

Although fans may be disappointed that Grand Theft Auto 6 still looks to be some time away from an official launch, a new version of Grand Theft Auto V should keep players occupied. It also means that Rockstar gets plenty of experience in development for next-gen consoles and ensures that they don't rush out a sequel. Instead, they can fully focus on ensuring that the sequel is as good as it can be, with all the features fans want, before the studio shows it off in public for the first time.
