Gotham, FOX's Batman prequel show, is finally coming to an end - with Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) turning into quite the silver fox, as revealed in new set photos posted this week. Back in May, the announcement was made that Gotham would be renewed for a fifth and final season, 13 episodes long. Although the small but devoted fanbase was disappointed that the show will be coming to an end, they were thrilled that Gotham will have a chance to wrap everything up and show Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) finally becoming the Batman that we all know and love.

There are going to be plenty of major moments to look forward to in the final season, too; Bane (Shane West) will be making his appearance, and at NYCC, it was confirmed that he'll be breaking Alfred's (Sean Pertwee) back. Fan favorite Harley Quinn may also (finally) be making an appearance on the show, although if this does happen, it won't be the final form of Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). There's a whole lot to look forward to, and now fans are being treated to some photos from the set, including one of an older Jim Gordon.

The photos were posted by Ben McKenzie News on Twitter, but originate from Silive and show a few of the places that the final season will be filming. However, the most interesting photo is one of McKenzie in costume as James Gordon, with silvered hair to show his age. The photos were taken while Gotham was filming the series finale on Staten Island.

We already know that the season (and series) finale will include a time jump forward, to show fans the Gotham City of the comics, with many of the heroes and villains looking far more like their comic book counterparts (Penguin finally gets fat!). It's clear that this is going to be a great way to wrap up the show, and so it comes as no surprise that Gordon is going to be older for part of the final season.

However, it's something of a shame that it looks like he won't be sporting the glasses and mustache that the character is known for in the rest of the DC universe, and that the only change is the color of his hair. Of course, it's still possible that the iconic Commissioner Gordon look will come into play; this shot may be taken when McKenzie is not in full costume and makeup, so perhaps there's a mustache waiting to be glued on in the dressing room somewhere. We'll have to wait until the new year to find out!
