While The CW's shared universe rightly gets a lot of press, one can't forget another vital piece of the televised DC puzzle -- that being FOX's Gotham. Now headed into season 3, Gotham looks to retain its status as a ratings winner, and ensure more seasons to come. With round three of Jim Gordon's quest to clean up Gotham and Bruce Wayne's journey toward becoming Batman just a few short months away, fan anticipation and excitement naturally continues to ramp up.
With that in mind, FOX has released three more entries in its "production has begun" series of promo clips for Gotham season 3, each featuring never before seen footage. This series of clips began last week with videos focusing on Gordon (Ben McKenzie), his partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), Bruce's butler and caregiver Alfred (Sean Pertwee), and scheming villain Oswald "The Penguin" Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor).
The three new clips this time shine a spotlight on young Bruce (David Mazouz), his eventual adult rival/love interest Selina "Catwoman" Kyle (Camren Bicondova), and newly arriving Gotham resident Valerie Vale (Jamie Chung).
Aunt of well-known Bruce Wayne love interest Vickie Vale, Valerie is a reporter for the Gotham Gazette, and is a character specifically created for TV. Seeking the truth about what went down at Indian Hill, Valerie goes to Gordon for answers, and the two form an alliance. During an appearance at Comic-Con, McKenzie hinted that the duo's relationship will eventually go beyond the platonic, so it would seem that Gordon won't waste too much time getting over the departure of previous significant other Leslie "Lee" Thompkins (Morena Baccarin).
Also headed to Gotham are Batman comic villains The Court of Owls, Solomon Grundy, and The Mad Hatter. Little Ivy Pepper is also set to grow up fast, blossoming from the meek tween she once was into a 19-year-old rendition of plant-loving seductress Poison Ivy, complete with a new, older actress playing the role. As if that weren't enough villains in the mix, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) is set to return to Gotham in a major way during season 3, after having sat out nearly all of season 2.
As always, Gotham City doesn't look to be quieting down anytime soon, and Jim Gordon's crusade to take down crime will likely only get harder during season 3. Likewise, Bruce Wayne's evolution into the Caped Crusader is set to continue unabated, with the orphan heir marching steadily toward a dark path of justice. In the meantime, fans have no choice but to simply buckle up and enjoy the ride.
Gotham returns for season 3 on September 19, 2016 at 8pm.
