Gotham season 3 premieres next week and is set to be the series' most intriguing yet. The Batman prequel series, which follows a young Bruce Wayne, and an unseasoned Jim Gordon has covered a lot of ground in its first two seasons. The second season of the FOX series saw the introduction of classic Batman characters like Hugo Strange (B.D. Wong), Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow, House of Cards), and Azrael, revealed to be the resurrected Theo Galavan (James Frain). When the season finally came to a close, a busload of Dr. Strange's experiments at Indian Hill flooded the streets of Gotham -- led by Fish Mooney.
Season 3, which is being dubbed "Mad City", is set to explore the ramifications of these enhanced individuals roaming the streets, as well as introducing Mad Hatter (Benedict Samuel), a now grown up Poison Ivy (with Maggie Geha taking the role over from Clare Foley), and a mysterious Bruce Wayne doppelganger. Now, leading up to the third season premiere we have a better look at some of these new and returning characters.
Collider released the new images, many of which offer a better look at what can be expected when the season kicks off next week. You can take a look at the images below:
Many of these images tease upcoming storylines on Gotham, including Bruce investigating the Court of Owls and Harvey Bullock tracking down the Indian Hill escapees. We see Jim Gordon waiting outside of what appears to be a home, carrying flowers. An easy guess is that he went to go find Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin), who left Gotham City after losing her (and Jim's) baby. We also see a few images of Leslie at what looks to be a train platform. While that's all exciting, perhaps the most interesting pictures are the ones featuring the now grown up Poison Ivy. The various images show Ivy in ripped clothes that look awfully similar to those worn by Clare Foley. This suggests we may be looking at the first few moments after her transformation.
We also get a few looks at Bruce Wayne's doppelganger, as well as Harvey meeting with Fish Mooney -- presumably looking for those Indian Hill experiments. The images featuring Bruce suggest he has found an audience with the Court of Owls, who are set to be a major player in the season's story line, and are also connected to Hugo Strange and the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne. We also get a look at Jamie Chung (The Hangover Part II), who will be playing Vickie Vale's aunt, Valerie. All in all, season 3 of Gotham is beginning to look like the biggest yet, and we won't have to wait long to see if that is indeed the case.
Gotham season 3 premieres September 19 @ 8pm on FOX.
