From a new set video, it looks like Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, could appear in some capacity in The CW's Gotham Knights. Almost every year since the Arrowverse was launched, The CW has added new shows to its massive DC TV line-up. With pilot season underway, the network's latest is another Batman-related project, following Batwoman which began in 2019. This year, The CW is working on a Gotham Knights drama with Batwoman writers/producers Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams. Despite their ties to BatwomanGotham Knights is not being eyed as a spinoff, nor is it connected to the video game of the same name.

This iteration of the Gotham Knights will follow the adventures of Bruce Wayne's adoptive son, along with several children of Batman's foes, as they are framed for the Caped Crusader's death. While having to clear their names, these unexpected heroes will become Gotham City's next generation of protectors. Gotham Knights officially kicked off principal photography this month in Toronto, Canada, rather than in Vancouver, which is where most of the Arrowverse series film. The Gotham Knights pilot is being helmed by Gotham and Pennyworth director Danny Cannon, making this his third Batman TV project.

As filming has now been going on for one week, more details are emerging for Gotham Knights through set photos and videos. Despite the Dark Knight's established death, it appears the infamous detective will appear in one way or another. TikTok user lauraflora3000 released a video on her account from the set, which includes a closer look at the various trailers for the talent that is involved. What is likely most notable is the shot of the trailer that seemingly belongs to whoever is portraying Bruce Wayne, which can be seen at the link below.

Even though Batman will be established to have died when Gotham Knights kicks off, it's not stopping the potential DC drama from featuring him in flashbacks. This would be very similar to how Batwoman showed Batman in the pilot through a pivotal flashback, with a stunt actor donning the cape and cowl. This reveal comes right after set videos and images of Bruce's tombstone and funeral emerged last week. The bigger question now is who is portraying the Caped Crusader in the Gotham Knights pilot as no casting has been announced thus far. Given that the trailer says explicitly "Bruce Wayne," it means viewers could see the famous playboy billionaire rather than him in the suit, suggesting Gotham Knights may have cast someone they have yet to announce.

It's worth noting that potential flashback scenes with Bruce as Batman are still possible, with the Gotham Knights pilot most likely showing the hero's final day before his death. It wouldn't be shocking if Gotham Knights season 1 heavily revolves around finding who actually murdered Batman. If Gotham Knights goes to series, the one-hour drama will join the already renewed Arrowverse shows The Flash and Superman & Lois. Once the pilot has finished filming and the network sees a cut, audiences could hear about Gotham Knights' fate either right before or during The CW's Upfronts presentation, which is scheduled for May 19.
