Gotham Knights was released on Oct. 21, 2022, and fans are flocking to play the game they've been waiting for years play. The game allows them to play as Batman's proteges as they struggle to protect Gotham from various new threats after the death of Batman himself.

One Batman ally whom players can play as is Red Hood, the gun-toting vigilante. Many of his abilities and skills revolve specifically on ranged attacks, though he does have some melee combat skills as well. Some skills and abilities that Red Hood can unlock are more important than others, and these are 10 that players may want to invest in sooner rather than later.

Mystical Punch

While Red Hood excels at ranged attacks, it's important to also let him build up some melee abilities to improve his close quarters combat potential. And a good ability to help with that is Mystical Punch.

When activated, Mystical Punch increases Red Hood's melee damage by 50% and causes a 5x increase in elemental buildup. This skill is perfect when Red Hood is backed into a corner and needs to deal out lots of melee damage relatively quickly. Though it only lasts for 30 seconds, this is still plenty of time for him to defeat all his enemies and move on to find another mob to beat up.

Mystical Leap

Focusing on vertical travel is a key tip for beginners to the game. For Red Hood, his travel ability is through the use of Mystical Leap.

Using this ability, Red Hood can create platforms out of thin air for him to move across. This is perfect for traversing to the higher levels of Gotham City to access better vantage points for shooting enemies or simply to reach certain objectives that players may not normally be able to reach. The fact that this ability is easily unlocked also makes it worth getting quickly.

Iron Grip

While there are many differences between Gotham Knights and the Arkhamverse, fight mechanics are still remarkably similar. This includes the grab mechanic, which allows players to grab enemies. Grabbing, however, can be interrupted by other enemies attacking.

The Iron Grip skill for Red Hood changes this. After acquiring this ability, Red Hood's grab attacks can not be interrupted by most attacks. While there are a few attacks that can still interrupt a grab, eliminating the majority of attacks from disrupting players' beatdowns and throw attacks is a major game changer, allowing them to grab and hold enemies with very little threat of a disruption while they finish the poor foe off.

Coup De Grâce

To finish off weakened enemies quickly, Red Hood can learn the Coup De Grâce skill, which lets him deal 10% more damage on enemies with 30% health or less.

This skill is key to clearing weak enemies fast so that they don't bother players anymore. While a 10% damage increase isn't a lot, for enemies that are almost dead, it means a much quicker defeat. And when it comes to games like Gotham Knights, it's important to defeat enemies as quick as possible in order to prevent being overwhelmed by a large mob of thugs and criminals.

Ranged Terror

Just like Batman, the four playable characters in Gotham Knights spread fear to their enemies, which can decrease attack speed and defenses as well as potentially making them flee in terror. As such, it's important to unlock skills and abilities that increase the fear dealt out.

Ranged Terror increases fear in nearby enemies for every enemy Red Hood knocks out with his guns, allowing him to spread fear to all nearby enemies even when he's shooting at a distance. The more fear that's spread, no matter what character players are using, the easier it is to clear enemies, whether it be from knocking them out or making them run away from the fight.

Portable Turret

Fans knew many things about Gotham Knights before it came out, but no one could've predicted all the amazing momentum abilities that players would have access to for each character. And one of the best ones to unlock for Red Hood is Portable Turret.

Portable Turret lets Red Hood deploy a mini turret to deal massive damage to enemies for 6 seconds. Many gamers know how annoying turrets can be in games; having the ability to drop one to use for themselves is pretty amazing, even if the duration is brief. Nonetheless, the turret can help deal lots of damage to mobs of enemies quickly, making it a great ability to work on unlocking quickly.

Shadow Vengeance

The one thing that's better than shooting one tracking bullet that goes through all enemies in the area is two tracking bullets that go through all enemies in the area. And that's what Shadow Vengeance lets Red Hood do.

Shadow Vengeance upgrades the Mystical Round ability, letting Red Hood fire 2 Mystical Rounds instead of one. Given that the Mystical Round can lock onto multiple enemies and hit them all, having 2 of these rounds in the chamber can let players cause massive damage to all enemies. However, Mystical Round needs to be unlocked for the ability to be useful.

Human Bomb

When it comes to explosives and utilizing them in combat, Red Hood has it made, especially when it comes to his Human Bomb skill.

With this skill, Red Hood can attach bombs to enemies he throws, which can be exploded upon getting shot. This skill can also eventually be upgraded into throwing off mines that can also be blown up by enemies. A great crowd control skill with a lot of explosive flair, Human Bomb can easily help turn the tide of a battle, especially when combined with other skills and abilities.

Lucky Rounds

While playing through what could be one of the best versions of Gotham City as Red Hood, it's important to be able to do enough damage from a distance, especially against tougher opponents. Lucky Rounds certainly increases the chances of doing this.

Lucky Rounds increases the chance of rounds shot by Red Hood doing 5x the normal damage. The chance of this happening is small, but doing 5 times the damage is massive, especially fighting high health enemies and bosses. Like many games, it's important to do lots of damage quickly to avoid getting taken out, and with Lucky Rounds, players will find their chances of clearing areas quickly grow.

Mystical Rounds

Bullets are great, but players often need a steady aim in order to make their shots count. Mystical Rounds eliminates the need for precise aiming and lets players hit multiple enemies with a single shot.

Mystical Rounds, a momentum ability, lets Red Hood fire a round that locks onto enemies and hits everyone locked on, regardless if your target indicator is on them or not. The round itself does a massive amount of damage to each enemy, making it an amazing choice to invest into. As mentioned before, this ability can be combined with the Shadow Vengeance skill to fire 2 rounds instead of 1, doing even more damage and showing off how skilled a warrior Red Hood really is.
