A brand-new Gotham Knights gameplay showcase reveals that Harley Quinn will appear as one of the superhero simulator's villainous bosses. The open-world adventure follows Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood as they fight to defend Gotham following Batman's death. A new Gamecom 2022 trailer revealed Gotham Knights villains like Clayface and Harley Quinn, and new boss fight footage sees Harley go toe-to-toe with Nightwing.

Gotham Knights is being developed by WB Games Montreal, the studio that previously created Batman: Arkham Origins. Set in a massive virtual recreation of Gotham City, the game will let players choose between its four distinct heroes as they patrol the city and face a variety of villains. Gotham Knights will center around Batman's legacy, with both its heroes and villains struggling to move on after his untimely demise. The Court of Owls will be the game's primary threat, but other supervillains like Mr. Freeze and The Penguin will appear in their own sidequests too. WB Games Montreal recently released a Gotham Knights gameplay showcase, which revealed the first 16 minutes of the title, and now even more villains have been unveiled.

Footage of Gotham Knights' Harley Quinn boss fight, posted to YouTube by IGN, sees Nightwing confront the Clown Princess of Crime in Gotham Hospital. The fight concludes Harley's sidequest, during which the player will pursue the supervillainess across the city while trying to figure out her evil plan. Harley's boss fight in Gotham Knights seems very robust, with the harmful harlequin initially facing Nightwing alone using acrobatic moves, explosive ordinance and her signature mallet. After this phase Harley calls for backup, forcing Nightwing to contend with both Harley and a small army of henchmen. The video cuts before Harley is defeated, suggesting the killer clown has additional surprises in store.

While only a handful of rogues has been revealed, secret Batman villains in Gotham Knights promise to make the superhero game truly massive. So far the only villains confirmed for the game are the Court of Owls, Mr. Freeze, Penguin, Clayface and Harley Quinn. This is a respectable lineup, but the enormous open-world title will no doubt see many more supervillains appear now that Batman is out of the picture. Gotham's rogues gallery is a huge part of the Batman franchise's success, so keeping villains hidden is a great way to build anticipation.

Even without the Dark Knight himself being present, Gotham Knights is shaping up to be a truly robust Gotham City experience. With four playable characters and a list of villains to face, players should be able to organize a wide variety of unique matchups. Harley Quinn has slowly become one of DC Comics' most beloved villains, and players can look forward to facing her once Gotham Knights soars into action.

Gotham Knights will release on October 21, 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
