The CW's Gotham Knights pilot has finished principal photography, as the show's creators celebrate the wrap on episode 1. Pilot season is underway, and for The CW, it means expanding the DC TV slate once again. Since the inception of the Arrowverse in 2012, the WarnerMedia and Paramount-owned network has continued to develop one spinoff show after another. This year, The CW is eyeing another Batman-related project as it is currently developing Gotham Knights as a potential one-hour drama for the 2022-2023 TV season.

Batwoman writers and producers Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams are co-creating the series, which isn't tied to the Gotham Knights video game that is coming later this year. Despite the trio's involvement, Gotham Knights is also not being eyed as a Batwoman spinoff series, nor will it be tied to any of the other Arrowverse dramas. The project was first put into development in late 2021 before landing a Gotham Knights pilot order in February 2022. Gotham and Pennyworth director and producer Danny Cannon is helming the episode, which was co-written by Fiveash, Stoteraux, and Abrams.

The Gotham Knights pilot went into principal photography on April 11 and had been shooting for several weeks, which is normally the case for a first episode. While most of the Arrowverse shows film in Vancouver, Canada, Gotham Knights are stationed in Toronto, and as of today, the pilot has officially finished filming. Gotham Knights' co-executive producer Abrams celebrated the wrap in a new image posted to Twitter with Fiveash and Stoteraux, which can be seen below.

Gotham Knights will focus on Bruce Wayne's adoptive son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), forming a new band of heroes that consist of the children of Batman's villains. The team will include DC players like Carrie Kelley (Navia Robinson), Cullen Bow (Tyler DiChiara), Fallon Smythe as Harper Row, Stephanie Brown (Anna Lore,) and Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan,) as they are framed for the murder of the Dark Knight. Not only will this force the group to clear their own names, but it will turn them into Gotham City's new, unexpected protectors. Supernatural star Misha Collins is also set to star in Gotham Knights as Harvey Dent, better known as DC Comics' Two-Face.

Once the Gotham Knights pilot has finished its post-production, The CW network will make a decision on whether it will get picked up to series. Currently, The CW's DC line-up for the 2022-2023 TV slate only has The Flash season 9 and Superman & Lois season 3 confirmed, as both series' renewals were green-lit back in March. If Gotham Knights is ordered to series, it will officially be The CW's new Bat-esque drama for next season, given recent news. After an extensive waiting period, last week, the CW officially cancelled Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow. However, with The CW Upfronts set for May 19, prospective viewers will know very soon whether Gotham Knights will join the network next season.
