Harley Quinn seems to be finally coming to Gotham, with Francesca Root-Dodson sharing her character's new look. The Batman prequel began its run in 2014 starring David Mazouz as a young Bruce Wayne. Over the last four seasons, the show has introduced many iconic Batman villains such as the Riddler, Penguin, Solomon Grundy, and Ra's al Ghul. When the fifth and final season of Gotham airs in January 2019, even more villains are expected to be introduced, including Harley Quinn.

Throughout the last four seasons of the show, Cameron Monaghan's character Jeremiah Valeska has continued to be developed. Even though he is essentially Gotham's version of the Joker, the show has yet to call him by the name. In season 4, the show introduced viewers to a character named Ecco, played by Root-Dodson. Ecco was the personal assistant to Jeremiah prior to his downfall, but still remained loyal to him after he went insane. Ecco even dressed up in a jester costume and went by the name Mummer in order to help Jeremiah destroy Gotham. While the show never specifically calls her character Harley Quinn, it looks like the classic Harley look is finally coming to Gotham.

Posted on Instagram, Root-Dodson recently shared an image of herself with crazy hair and white face paint, teasing the development of her character in season 5. Root-Dodson also captioned the image, "Hiya Gotham", which seems like something the crazed character would say. With this newest look at Ecco, fans can expect the character to further transform into Gotham's version of Harley Quinn as the season progresses. Root-Dodson's full post can be seen below.

Along with the development of Ecco, Gotham will also be evolving other characters who have had big roles on the show. While promos for Gotham season 5 focus on Jeremiah, the upcoming season will also introduce Shane West as Bane. Likewise, the show will also need to give the Riddler and Penguin proper endings, while still transforming Bruce into his final form as the Dark Knight.

Since the showrunners have been hinting at Harley Quinn for quite some time now, fans will likely be thrilled to see the character on the small screen, even if she isn't specifically named Harley Quinn. With all of the other characters being included in Gotham season 5, Root-Dodson's appearance on the show could be limited. That being said, Ecco will likely play a pivotal role in the development of Jeremiah, so fans can expect to see a lot of her in season 5 - hopefully as a full-fledged Harley Quinn.
