The Steam listing for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy states that PC players will need at least 150 GB of storage space to play with the game's minimum requirements. This makes the upcoming release bigger than Microsoft Flight Simulator was when it first launched on PC, and bigger than Marvel's Avengers.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is the next Marvel game that fans have to look forward to. The story and characters exist separately to both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the comic books, offering an all-new spin on the famous Guardians. Players will take on the role of Star-Lord as they embark on intergalactic capers aided by their companions, exploring different planets and battling various nefarious GotG villains. As well as fan-favorite characters like Groot and Rocket Racoon, developer Eidos-Montréal recently confirmed that Adam Warlock will be a key figure in the GotG game, though his role is still shrouded in mystery.

Steam has listed Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy game's file size at 150 GB, citing the figure for both its minimum and recommended system requirements (via VGC). The large file size makes the game bigger in size than some of the weightiest PC games of the last few years, including Microsoft Flight Simulator's original 127 GB on PC, and Marvel's Avengers' recommended 110 GB on PC. According to Steam, a GTX 1660 Super or Radeon RX 590, as well as 16 GB of RAM, are also recommended for the best performance.

The big file size for Guardians of the Galaxy may come as a surprise for most players. The upcoming release is a single-player narrative adventure, unlike Marvel's Avengers, and isn't expected to feature the hyper-realism and minute details seen in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Previous reports suggested the GotG game would be just over 40 GB on PlayStation 5 before any day one patches, which could be evidence that the Steam listing isn't correct at the time of writing. It's possible that the Steam page is using a placeholder figure, with Xbox and PlayStation storefronts, as well as Square Enix, yet to detail the game's file size. It's worth noting that Steam still has Microsoft Flight Simulator listed as a 150 GB game, despite the base install dropping to around 70 GB via a patch earlier this year.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy fans don't have long to find out just how big the game may be on PC with its release just days away. It's expected that players will be able to preload the game from this Sunday, October 24, ensuring they're able to jump straight into the action on its release day. The GotG game launches on October 26 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and for Nintendo Switch via the cloud.
