Game of Thrones: Maisie Williams Reacts to Jon Snow Spinoff Show

The Game of Thrones actor behind series regular Grey Worm discusses the character's possible return in the upcoming Jon Snow sequel series. HBO announced the live-action Jon Snow spinoff project this summer, with Kit Harington set to reprise the title role. It is the first Game of Thrones sequel in development, alongside several live-action and animated prequels, including 10,000 Ships (aka Nymeria), 9 Voyages (aka The Sea Snake), Dunk and Egg, and The Golden Empire.

Nearly five months after the announcement of a Game of Thrones sequel, Grey Worm actor Jacob Anderson discloses whether or not viewers should expect to see him in the Jon Snow-centered show. Speaking to E! News, Anderson does not give a firm yes or no answer but says he would be surprised to see Grey Worm return. The actor justifies his comments by reiterating Grey Worm's disdain for Jon Snow and that the only reason he would appear is to kill him. Check out the full quote below:

"I think it would be pretty tense if he did [appear in the new spinoff with Jon Snow]. I think the only way Grey Worm would show up in that show is to kill Jon Snow. I don’t think Grey Worm would want to see him again. I think that was quite a significant condition of [Jon] living, was like, 'I don't ever want to see your face again. I'm going to go my way, and you’re going to go your way, and that's that.' I'd be very surprised if we saw Grey Worm again."

What A Grey Worm and Jon Snow Reunion Would Entail

Greyworm in Game of Thrones Season 8

While Anderson's answer is vague, the logic behind Grey Worm's unlikely return in the untitled Jon Snow spinoff series is sound. At the end of Game of Thrones, the two characters go off in drastically separate directions; Grey Worm and his Unsullied clan sail off of the Isle of Naath, and Jon Snow presumably becomes the Wildling ruler north of the Wall. Due to Jon's assassination of Daenerys Targaryen, Grey Worm maintains a deep hatred for Jon until their final moments together. However, the Unsullied leader still allows him to go due to King Bran Stark's proposal, which exiles Jon to the Night's Watch. If Grey Worm decides to leave Naath and pursue vengeance against Jon in the Game of Thrones sequel, it would mean breaking the terms of his deal with Bran and his promise to Missandei to protect her people. But if Grey Worm did show up, he would almost certainly go for Jon's head.

What Other Game of Thrones Characters Could Appear in Jon Snow Spinoff

Although Anderson does not think a Grey Worm appearance in the Jon Snow sequel series makes much sense, other Game of Thrones characters could feasibly return. Most likely, these characters would be closely aligned to Jon, unlike Grey Worm, and could include the pivotal Stark siblings Sansa, Arya, and King Bran. Tyrion Lannister is also a possible inclusion, as well as Grand Maester Samwell Tarley, Jon's best friend in the original HBO series.

For now, any character comebacks are purely speculative since they depend on the show's plot. Unfortunately, HBO has yet to reveal any essential story details about the Jon Snow spinoff, so if it strictly concerns Jon's journey in the land beyond the Wall, there is a good chance that the series will not feature any of these characters. Game of Thrones fans will have to wait and see if Grey Worm or any other favorites make a comeback in the Jon Snow series.
