Warning! SPOILERS about the Gossip Girl reboot season 2 episode 7 ahead. The Gossip Girl reboot struggled for a while to establish its own protagonist-led feud, but it might have found the perfect rivalry after 2021’s Gossip Girl season 2 episode 7. While the original Gossip Girl famously portrayed multiple outrageous showdowns, with Blair and Serena’s rifts usually causing more trouble than others, the Gossip Girl reboot hadn’t yet found the perfect pair of frenemies that could deeply care for each other and just as easily stab each other in the back. The Gossip Girl reboot season 1 initially tried to pin Julien (Jordan Alexander) and Zoya against one another, but their fights would stop as quickly as they started.

Then, 2021’s Gossip Girl season 2 saw Monet’s rise up Constance Billard’s food chain, which could have threatened Julien had she wished to actually oppose Monet. Instead, just like Julien’s rivalry with Zoya, the antagonism between Monet and Julien eventually fizzled out, leaving them set on different goals but nonetheless close. All these potential threats to Julien’s status and attacks against her were not only short-lived but also fights Julien didn’t want to engage in. Blair and Serena’s feuds in the original Gossip Girl instead had them equally invested in the fights and in defending their positions, something that could now happen with Julien and Audrey’s (Emily Alyn Lind) feud.

Audrey & Julien Had A Blair & Serena Like Tussle

Although Julien and Audrey steadily supported each other throughout the Gossip Girl reboot seasons 1 and 2, with their friendship appearing as one of the few stable relationships in Julien’s life, Julien’s behavior during Audrey’s father’s visit and her following missteps only annoyed Audrey. Julien’s reveal that to hold everybody accountable she slipped fake rumors to Gossip Girl only angered Audrey more, as it confirmed that by protecting only herself in the Gossip Girl reboot season 1, Julien didn’t treat her friends as her equals. Julien’s interference with Kiki’s line launch was the last straw for Audrey, as once again Julien ruined things by actively trying to solve them.

2021’s Gossip Girl season 2 episode 7 had Audrey gladly take a break from Julien, but Julien was still mostly sad about her best friend’s opinion of her. It’s unclear when Julien will fight back, but if she did, hers and Audrey’s fight could be the Gossip Girl reboot feud to potentially rival Blair and Serena’s. After all, Audrey’s observations highlighted her distaste for Julien only thinking about her and what would improve her situation, overlooking how her actions affected her friends, which was something Blair often scolded Serena for. Their pre-existing friendship and Audrey’s bottled-up feelings about Julien could make their feud similar in strength to Blair and Serena’s.

Audrey & Julien Ceasing Being Friends Is Like Blair & Serena At Yale

Leighton Meester as Blair and Blake Lively as Serena in Gossip Girl season 2 episode 6

The seemingly definitive fight Gossip Girl reboot season 2 between Audrey and Julien closely resembled a Blair and Serena storyline from Gossip Girl season 2 episode 6. Indeed, Audrey’s decision to be done with Julien’s antics echoed Serena’s proposal to just end her friendship with Blair at Yale, after they had resorted to physically fighting each other to settle their scores. However, while Blair saw Serena’s Yale trip as being disloyal to her dreams, she also didn’t want to have Serena cut from her life. Hopefully, Audrey and Julien’s tussle will eventually bring the two friends closer and with a new insight into each other in the Gossip Girl reboot.
