Avengers: Endgame co-director Anthony Russo refuses to comment on whether or not Captain Marvel's Goose the Cat survived the snap. Debuting in last month's Carol Danvers origin story, the feline has quickly become a fan-favorite character with its adorable antics and surprising capabilities. Given the latter, many are wondering whether or not it survived The Decimation that wiped out half of life in the universe since it can be helpful against the heroes upcoming battle against the Mad Titan.

Avengers: Infinity War's direct sequel, Endgame will tackle the aftermath of Thanos' win, leaving the remaining heroes defeated. Trailers have not revealed much, but it appears like the upcoming mission will be carried out by MCU's founding heroes with the help from newfound allies such as Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, Nebula and Rocket. At this point, it's still very difficult to gauge how the movie will pan out, but if there's anything that fans can count on, the Avengers will win the battle against the Mad Titan and hopefully restore peace and order in the universe whatever it takes. And that could also mean recruiting the most obscure character if that means it can make a difference.

One of the more unconventional and yet effective helpers in the upcoming battle against Thanos is Goose. As Captain Marvel revealed, Mar-Vell's pet isn't your typical feline, as it's a from a ruthless alien species known as the Flerkens, whose bodies contain interdimensional portals. When Anthony Russo was asked by Fandango about its fate following the snap, the filmmaker admitted to not being able comment regarding the matter as of the moment. "That's certainly something I cannot comment on at this point. I know, I can imagine a lot of people want to know that," he said.

Goose the Cat in Captain Marvel

It's safe to say that Goose's capabilities are far from being fully realized. Based on what fans have seen in Captain Marvel, there could be other things that he can do besides being able to transform and swallow artifacts as powerful as an Infinity Stone. That said, since the film was set in 1995, it's curious what it's been up to since fans last saw him chilling at Nick Fury's office. Up until the Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck-directed movie, fans didn't know about Goose, which makes the mystery around its current whereabouts more intriguing.

Regardless of what happens in Avengers: Endgame and whether or not Goose will partake in the upcoming fight against Thanos, one thing is for sure, focus will be on the original core six MCU heroes. The film is largely believed to be their final outing as a team with some, if not most of them either temporarily or permanently leaving the franchise. After that, the universe will begin a brand new chapter where the second wave of Marvel heroes take center stage including Captain Marvel.
