The price of Google Wifi has dropped as Google aims to bring internet accessibility and reach to more households. The tech giant also hopes to address the dramatic increase of internet dependency by introducing a variety of performance improvements as well. As more companies, including Google, transition its workload from offices to homes, the need for more reliable internet connections is becoming all the more important.

Google's original mesh Wifi acts as a solution to such a dilemma, by performing as a router that increases internet speed, connection coverage, and even offering additional Ethernet ports. The original model was released back in 2016, retailing for $129 per unit. While Google recently released a model that caters to audiophiles, the mesh Wifi aims to address a more relevant and recurring problem of unreliable and slow internet speeds, with one Wifi unit able to service the internet coverage of homes up to 1,500 square feet.

According to Google, the price of a single Google Wifi unit is now down to $99, while a triple-pack (said to increase internet coverage to up to 4,500 square feet) is now down to $199. Aside from the Google Wifi price cuts, the company also plans to address internet congestion by introducing some performance-enhancing updates to its devices. This includes notification alerts for newly joined devices, improved network performance and reduced network delays, among other things. The changes and improvements are effective immediately, with the company having already started to roll out the updates.

Now A Cheaper Way To Extend Wi-Fi

There are a couple of other Google Nest options that are relatively cheaper, but aren't necessarily capable of doing what the original mesh Wifi is made for. Each Google Wifi unit aims to increase internet speed, strength and performance, and now at $30 less than its usual price. However, those in larger homes will find the three-pack is far more ideal, thanks to the increased surface space covered by the additional units.

While the triple-pack is twice the price of a single unit, this same three-pack used to be priced at $299. At the current $199 price point, the triple-pack brings down the cost of each individual unit to under $70 each. Furthermore, the constant updates and improvements that Google is making to its Nest lineup also makes the devices worth investing in, especially during these times when consumers are no longer using the internet strictly for entertainment purposes.
