The Google Pixel Tablet stands to be one of the most interesting Pixel devices to date, and as such, many folks are wondering when its release date is. Since the Pixel family was introduced in 2016, Google's experimented with a few different devices. We've seen Pixel smartphones, Pixel Buds wireless earbuds, and the Chrome OS-powered Pixel Slate tablet.

And Google's not done expanding the Pixel family. During its Google I/O opening keynote in May 2022, Google announced the Pixel Watch and Pixel Tablet. The former is Google's first Wear OS smartwatch launching later in 2022. The latter is the first Pixel Android tablet we've ever seen — and the first Google-branded Android tablet since the Nexus 9 from 2014.

Admittedly, there's a lot we still don't know about the Pixel Tablet. We know it'll have a pretty bland design, a single rear-facing camera, and what appears to be a fairly large display. But that's it. We don't know what resolution the display will be, how big of a battery it has, how much storage is included, or how much the Pixel Tablet will cost. Even worse, we aren't sure when the Pixel Tablet's release date is. The only thing Google's said about a release date is that the Pixel Tablet is launching at some point in 2023. But, unfortunately, that's as specific as the company is getting right now.

When We Think The Google Pixel Tablet Will Launch

But just because Google isn't saying anything more doesn't mean we don't have an idea of when we'll see the Pixel Tablet. In general, Google has two main points throughout the year when it unveils major products: in May during Google I/O and in October during a Pixel hardware event. It's very likely that we'll learn more about the Pixel Tablet during one of these months in 2023.

If Google has a full announcement for the Pixel Tablet during Google I/O in 2023, it's possible that the tablet won't launch until the following July. The ongoing chip shortage has notably impacted Google's supply chains for the past couple of years. As such, even if the Pixel Tablet is announced in May 2023, don't expect it to go on sale that same month.

However, what seems more likely is that Google will launch the Pixel tablet closer to its expected hardware event in October 2023. This is when Google traditionally launches new Pixel smartphones and Nest speakers/displays. It seems like the best opportunity for Google to release its first Pixel Android tablet — and it gives the company a few extra months to make sure everything is perfect. It's impossible to say with 100 percent certainty what Google will do, but based on everything we know right now, that's when we think we'll get the Pixel Tablet.
