The Pixel 7 phones have a lot to offer – they feature Google's second-generation Tensor G2 chip, up to 120Hz displays, fast charging, advanced 50MP cameras, and a host of photo-editing tools. Both smartphones also come bundled with the Google One VPN.
Unfortunately, those planning to get the Pixel 7 phones will have to spend extra on a charger, as Google does not provide one. All users get in the box is the phone, a SIM ejector tool, a USB-C to USB-A adapter, and a 1m USB-C to USB-C cable. The Pixel 5a was the last phone Google sold with a charger. In 2021, the company decided to follow in Apple's footsteps and stop shipping the essential accessory with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The cheaper Pixel 6a did not come with a charger either.
Pixel 7 Charging Options
The top-end 512GB Pixel 7 Pro costs upwards of $1,000, so having to shell out extra for a charger seems unfair. The Pixel 7 series competes with smartphones like iPhone 14 series and Galaxy S23 series. None of these phones include a charger in the box, so it's not surprising that Google decided to follow suit and save some money in the process. If users have an old Type-C charger lying at home, they can just use that to charge the Pixel 7. If not, it makes sense to invest in a fast charger.
The Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro feature 4,355mAh and 5,000mAh batteries, respectively. Both smartphones support 30W fast wired charging that can charge the battery to 50 percent in about 30 minutes. Google sells an official 30W USB-C charger that's available for $25 on Amazon. Alternatively, users can pick up a third-party 30W Type-C charger from brands like Anker, Baseus, Ugreen, and more for slightly cheaper.
Apart from wired charging, the Pixel 7 series can also charge wirelessly. While the Pixel 7 charges at up to 20W speeds, the Pixel 7 Pro is slightly faster, maxing out at 23W. While this is slower than wired charging, it's a convenient way to charge. All users need to do is place the Pixel 7 on any Qi-certified wireless charging stand or mat to begin charging. If users want to take advantage of the fastest-possible wireless charging speeds, Google sells the second-gen Pixel Stand on its website for $79. Since it's a Qi charger, it can also be used to charge compatible devices like the Pixel Buds. The Pixel Stand can charge the Pixel 7 series at up to 23W, but other Qi-certified devices will charge at up to 15W speeds.
