T-Mobile revived Google Photos' unlimited storage plan for its subscribers a year after Google discontinued it. One of the great freebies for Pixel device owners was the unlimited photo and video storage on Google Photos. However, in Nov. 2020, the company announced that the feature would be going away from June 1, 2021. Despite protests from many users, Google withdrew the offer as planned, and it's no longer available with newer Pixel devices like the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
T-Mobile is one of the three biggest wireless carriers in the U.S., alongside Verizon and AT&T. It prides itself on its so-called 'Uncarrier' identity and offers several differentiated features and plans that make it stand out from its two larger rivals. In addition, the company often gives out freebies to earn more subscribers, including a tantalizing deal last year when it offered a year of free Paramount+ subscription to all its postpaid wireless and home internet subscribers.
T-Mobile has announced that it will offer unlimited photo and video storage on Google Photos as part of a new Google One membership option for its customers. As part of the program, there are three plans on offer, including a $5/month plan that offers 500GB of storage and a $10/month plan that offers 2TB of storage. The unlimited Google Photos option is part of the third plan with a $15/month sticker. As explained by T-Mobile, the plan would offer users unlimited space for all their photos and videos in full resolution and without any compression. This would be in addition to the 2TB of general storage for Gmail and Google Drive.
Exclusive Offer For T-Mobile Customers
Standalone Google One memberships start at $1.99 per month for 100GB of cloud storage, while the 200GB plan comes with a $2.99 price tag. In addition, the company offers a 2TB plan for $9.99 per month for people wanting more storage. The top-tier plan also brings other perks, such as 10 percent back in Google Store credit on every purchase, as well as a free VPN for Android and iOS. The $15 plan, which offers the unlimited photo and video storage option, is exclusive to T-Mobile subscribers.
While 2TB is more than enough for most regular users, Google allows people to share their Google One memberships with up to five other people. With up to six people sharing 2TB of storage, it could run out relatively soon, so the additional unlimited storage is a massive plus. That said, the feature is only available to the primary account holder, which means not everybody sharing the Google One account will be able to upload their full-resolution media on Google's servers for $15 per month as part of T-Mobile's latest plan.
