Google's Opinion Rewards app anonymously connects the user with market research surveys and pays them for the efforts. Participation is limited to adults aged 18 and over and rewards come in the form of Google Play Store for those using an Android device, and PayPal credits when using an iPhone or iPad to fill out surveys. The service is accessible in 28 countries and some surveys are available in multiple languages.

The Opinion Rewards app is not new as it has been around for some time. However, for those new to it, it can be a good way to build up some credits to spend elsewhere. The exact amount paid varies by survey, but each survey is quite brief and typically takes no more than a minute to answer the questions. In reality, this is mostly spare change with the amounts not substantial enough to be thought of as earnings or a second income. However, the amount can build up over time allowing app users to generate enough credit for a digital purchase, such as an app or a game.

To get started, download the 'Google Opinion Rewards' app from the Google Play Store or Apple's App Store. Once installed, create a new Google account or sign in with an existing one. On Android phones and tablets, the account you sign in with will be the account that receives the Google Play credits, so it is wise to use a primary one. On iPhone or iPad, the credit goes to a PayPal account of your choice. As Google point out in the app's FAQs, no identifiable data is shared with market researchers. Instead, the companies only receive answers and in some cases, general demographic information.

What Else You Should Know About Google's Rewards

In most cases, surveys take the form of text-based multiple choice questions, though there are times when a user might be required to reference images or watch a short video. Typically, a larger credit is awarded if watching a video is required. In addition, there are sometimes qualifying questions that could exempt you from participating and as to be expected, there is no reward if exempted.

If there are any surveys available, they will show up in the app when the user logs in. If there are none then it is usually just a matter of waiting for a notification to come through. On that point, surveys are sparse with one per day not uncommon. Likewise, the frequency can vary considerable with a user possibly waiting several days or receiving multiple surveys in the same day. One last point to be aware of is that surveys expire in 24 hours, so users will need to respond in time if they want to capitalize on the rewards from Google.
