One of the Hallmark Channel's most popular and longest-running scripted series, The Good Witch will be back for Season 7 and fans can expect more charm, humor, romance, mystery, and magic. Season 6 ended with Donovan Davenport dropping to one knee and proposing to Abigail after they broke the two-hundred-year-old Merriwick/Davenport curse. The now reunited Merriwick women, Cassie, Abigail, and Joy were then presented with a new mystery when each one received an identical velvet bag of dirt.
The Good Witch is based on a series of movies that began in 2008, focusing on the mysterious Cassie Nightingale and the impact of her arrival in the small town of Middleton. When the series began in 2015, Cassie was a widow with two adult stepchildren and a teenage daughter Grace. Cassie possesses a power that some deem mystical, in that she is always able to give the right ultra-intuitive advice when helping her friends and Middleton acquaintances make the right choices in their lives. Her daughter Grace, cousin Abigail, and newly discovered cousin Joy appear to share Cassie's witchy gift.
Season 6 of The Good Witch, focused on Cassie and Dr. Sam Radford's love story as they shared their first year together alone at Grey House after Cassie's daughter Grace, and Sam's son Nick departed for college. The central mystery saw the town working to help Abigail Pershing and Donovan break the two-hundred-year-old love curse put upon their family by their ancestors. Their efforts paid off with Donovan dropping to one knee in the season finale and proposing to Abigail who happily accepted.
The Good Witch Season 7 Premiere Release Date
The Good Witch fans don't have much longer to wait as season 7 of the show premieres on May 16, 2021. To the disappointment of fans, due to the production delays caused by the COVID 19 shutdowns, there was no traditional The Good Witch stand-alone Halloween movie in 2020. Production on the new season began in October of 2020 and wrapped in early 2021. Previous seasons of The Good Witch are now streaming on Netflix for fans who want to revisit the stories or new fans who want to catch up on the show.
The Good Witch Season 7 Cast
The entire season 6 cast appears to be returning for new adventures in Middleton. Catherine Bell has been playing the character of Cassie Nightingale for 13 years. In contrast, Katherine Barrell’s Joy just joined the show last season, but will be returning as a regular for season 7. Although his character Adam Hawkins was leaving Middleton at the end of season 6, Scott Cavalheiro is seen throughout season 7 promo photos and teasers, hinting his trip may not go off without a hitch.
The Good Witch Season 7 Story Details
This season will be focusing on the three Merriwick women, Cassie, Abigail, and Joy, and the mystery surrounding the bags they were given. Though they are each other’s newfound family, they will undoubtedly be working together, one of The Good Witch’s strongest recurring themes. Fans will be eagerly anticipating a wedding between Donovan and Abigail, and now that Joy is staying in Middleton, there is romantic buzz in her future. If Adam does return earlier than expected, he may reunite with Stephanie sooner rather than later.
The Good Witch’s most recent behind-the-scenes featurette shared the show will be delving more into the relationships and the characters, rather than quirky Middleton happenings, although those are sure to never be far away. The cast shared there will be more humor, lots more romance, and mystery. Of course, with three Merriwick women in town now, there's bound to be three times the magic. Cassie's magic has always worked for the people of Middleton, but this season she’ll find it may not work to help those closest to her.
