Good Witch, the Hallmark Channel's longstanding supernatural dramedy based on its movie series of the same name, is coming to an end after seven seasons. The series expands on the story of the films' main character, Cassie Nightingale, a magically gifted woman who moves to a small town. Catherine Bell stars as Cassie throughout both the film and the TV series, which will consist of eight movies and 72 episodes altogether after the show wraps up.
Deadline reports that the Hallmark Channel has canceled Good Witch, the television series. Coincidentally, the series will end after a befitting 13 years, which happens to be the witchiest number. (The first movie premiered in 2008, which led to the TV show debuting in 2015.) The season 7 and series finale will air on July 25. While the TV show's cancellation doesn't necessarily preclude the possibility of another movie, a representative from Hallmark remained vague about whether the Good Witch story is really over. Although some fans may be holding onto hope that the series finale won't be the last Good Witch program, it seems unlikely that Hallmark plans to continue the series. Bell and co-star James Denton both recently shared their gratitude for Good Witch in statements that imply the series has truly come to an end. Denton appreciated that the show "was special," while Bell wrote on Instagram that "we will all miss the Good Witch and all the amazing characters and stories."
In the final episode of Good Witch, titled "The Wedding," Cassie, Abigail (Sarah Power), and Joy (Katherine Barrell) confront the reason their powers have been waning. Season 7 also stars Denton as Cassie's husband Dr. Sam Radford, Catherine Disher, Kylee Evans, Marc Bendavid, and Scott Cavalheiro. Bailee Madison briefly returns as Cassie's daughter Grace.
