A new image teases David Tennant's return to Good Omens as production on the second season gets underway. The Amazon Prime series is based on a 1990 novel written by show creators, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Season one made its debut on May 31, 2019 and was met with praise from critics and fans alike.

Though initially pitched as a limited series, the show's success saw a second season confirmed earlier this year. Tennant, who stars as the wily demon Crowley, will return in this latest chapter alongside Michael Sheen, who reprises the role of the angel Aziraphale. Season one concluded after the unlikely duo succeeded in their efforts to thwart Armageddon, assisted by the would-be-Antichrist, Adam (played by Sam Taylor Buck). Production on the second season began just a few days ago, with Gaiman tweeting a picture of a quote that had been painted on the studio's exit door.

Now, in an image posted to Georgia Tennant's Twitter page, fans have been teased with the return of Crowley's fiery red hair. "He's like fire," captioned Tennant, with an accompanying devil emoji. Characteristically coiffed, it certainly looked like David was rearing to step back onto the set of Good Omens at a moment's notice. Check out the post below:

This latest picture of Tennant comes just days after his co-star, Sheen, teased his own hair receiving the bleach treatment. With both actors now having undergone their physical transformations, it seems production on the latest season of Good Omens is well underway. The pair have been busy in the meanwhile, working together and keeping their on-screen chemistry alive through the virtual BBC comedy, Staged.

While viewers have been left to speculate, it seems only Gaiman and his stars are privy to the new story they are about to explore. Season 2 marks new ground for the show, which successfully covered the events of the first book within its first season. With all-new material from Gaiman, it seems likely that he will want to focus on the new dynamic between Aziraphale and Crowley, now freed from the constraints of Heaven and Hell. The friendship between the two characters, coupled with the actors' real on-screen chemistry, was a major factor in Good Omens' success. While it's unlikely that the fan-favorite duo will fall apart, it's possible that Gaiman will wish to test their relationship and fully expose both characters to the realities of each other's background. Regardless of what Gaiman has concocted in this latest chapter, viewers are sure to be pleased by the reunion of Tennant and Sheen.
