The show Good Girls, a television series that has come on NBC since 2018, focuses on three mothers who will do whatever it takes to provide for their families. An idea to rob a grocery store snowballs into so much more, and these main characters have got caught up in some pretty crazy stuff!
They are still suburban housewives/moms, though, as well as genuinely good people (Right?). Therefore, they have to lie, sneak around, act, and pretend that everything is fine. With all the drama, crime, and excitement, it could be fun to rank the characters of this show, based on their intelligence… as was done below!
Boomer
One of the dumbest characters on the show is Leslie Peterson, who goes by Boomer and who is portrayed by David Hornsby. He was first shown as Annie's boss, and he did some horrible things.
He then got suspicious of the women and was trying to get them in trouble. While he did display some wily traits, he also has made bad decision after bad decision, and he is just a gross, selfish guy overall.
Dean Boland
Next up is Dean Boland, Matthew Lillard’s character; he cheated on Beth and lied to her after making some not-so-great financial decisions.
Really, Beth felt like she had to rob a supermarket, based on the fact that she was not being provided for by her husband. And how/why could someone mess around, with Christina Hendricks at home?!
Annie Marks
Annie Marks, played by Mae Whitman, is a main character within the story, as well as Beth’s younger sister. She got pregnant as a teen, she works at a grocery store to pay the bills, and she can be a bit reckless.
While she has been helpful in the main missions and done some smart and daring things, she can be a bit immature, too.
Ben Marks
Isaiah Stannard portrays Annie's child, who was named Sadie before coming out as a transgender boy and choosing Ben as a new name. When these two are shown, it is clear that Ben is more like a parent than a kid!
He is mature and sensible, and Annie turns to him for advice and guidance.
Ruby Hill
Another main character is Ruby Hill, who is played by Retta; she is Beth’s best friend, she is a waitress, and she got tangled up in all of this because she wanted and needed to pay for her daughter’s medical bills.
When she is shown at home and with her family, it is clear that she is a sweet and caring person. It is hard to watch her be so conflicted, as she is not always eager to do what Beth thinks should be done. Still, she pulls it all off, while putting on a happy face and not letting her kids know what is really happening.
Jimmy Turner
An investigator is certainly going to be someone with knowledge and skills, which is why Jimmy Turner, James Lesure’s character, is one this list.
However, he has not caught the criminals yet, even though he seems obsessed with taking down Beth.
Noah
When the main characters are not robbing stores or cleaning money, they are doing normal things like pursuing and hanging out with significant others. Annie has an ex that she is not over, but then she meets Noah, a character portrayed by Sam Huntington. He seems great, but he is actually an undercover FBI agent.
Posing as her boss, getting close to her, working for the FBI… He does not always make the best decisions, but Noah is definitely intelligent.
Stanley Hill
Over time, some people have found out about what the women are doing, such as Stanley Hill; he is Ruby’s husband, he is a cop, and he is played by Reno Wilson. As a law enforcement official, he was not happy to learn about his wife’s crimes. However, he understood why she was doing it.
So, he is another cunning and sly character, as he is a police officer and an accomplice to his best friend/wife.
Rio
Next up is Rio aka Christopher, who is portrayed by Manny Montana… He is a well-known, powerful and successful criminal who gets very creative. It seems like he has been running his nontraditional business for quite some time and all without getting caught or captured.
He also finds Beth to be very intriguing, and it seems that she has come close to outsmarting him (though he could have just been leading her on). Nevertheless, he is ranking below her, as she pulls off similar crimes, all while posing as the perfect housewife, too.
Beth Boland
The star of the show is Christina Hendricks as Elizabeth "Beth" Boland. On one hand, she is a supermom who cooks for her family every day, crafts adorable projects, and keeps herself and her house looking polished, prim and perfect. On the other hand, though, she is the leader of the main group, meaning she is always pushing them to go further, coming up with tricky plans and falling more and more into a life of crime.
The fact that she can hide this part of her, the fact that she impressed Rio, the fact that she is getting away with it all… She is one smart and tough cookie.
