Mother-daughter duo Karen E. Laine and Mina Starsiak Hawk are the masterminds behind renovating homes on Good Bones, but there are plenty of key team members who assist in their neighborhood rejuvenation process, including Austin Aynes. While Austin isn't one of Karen and Mina's blood relatives, he is still involved in their family business, Two Chicks and a Hammer. He's proven that he is integral to the construction process. From his role on Good Bones to his life outside of reality TV, here's everything there is to know about Austin.
Like Mina and Karen, Austin is an Indianapolis native. According to Austin's biography on the Reason To Dance website (he took part in a ballroom dance competition for charity), he grew up in Speedway, Indiana. While Austin lived in Speedway, he attended Cardinal Ritter High School. At Cardinal Ritter, he played varsity football until he graduated in 2013. After high school, Good Bones' Austin kept it local, by choosing to become a student at Butler University in Indianapolis. At Butler, Austin studied biology and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He wanted to go to physical therapy school after college, but wrote, "Sadly, [that] remained a dream."
Good Bones' Austin Had Dreams Outside of Demolition
Austin's journey to joining the Two Chicks and a Hammer team started after he returned home from college and wanted to earn quick money. Instead of continuing to pursue his dream of attending physical therapy school, Austin started working in demolition. He shared that he had done some demolition work with a friend from his football team during his high school years. Austin recalled that his friend said, "his sister’s company was having a pilot for a TV show filmed," and they wanted Austin to participate in it. Although Austin attempted to get another job for a couple of years after starting with Karen and Mina's company, he ultimately returned to Two Chicks and a Hammer, where he now sees himself staying, "for the foreseeable future."
Austin Loves His Good Bones Family
Austin remained a regular on Good Bones, where he worked as Mina's construction coordinator. Austin's fun and kind spirit shone through for seven seasons, as he broke down and rebuilt homes with the Two Chicks and a Hammer crew. When he's not busy demolishing, Austin can be found on social media. He has garnered over 10,000 followers.
Austin's Instagram posts convey the construction coordinator's wide range of interests, from attending sports games to promoting Two Chicks and a Hammer's beer. Austin occasionally posts updates of renovations that he has made to his home, when he's not preoccupied with fixing up other people's homes. In December 2020, Austin shared that his work on Good Bones made it possible for him to purchase his first residence in his hometown of Speedway, Indiana.
Although Austin isn't the star of Good Bones like home renovation expert Mina, he is a beloved team member who has become a vital part of the reality show. While Austin might've initially dreamed of pursuing physical therapy, he seems to be right where he should be. As of Jan. 25, 2023, there's no official green light for season 8. However, that type of announcement may be on the horizon. The reality star Austin, who is a tried and true Hoosier, has dedicated his entire life to bettering Indianapolis, and to improving houses.
