Goldie Hawn - The Sugarland Express (1974) 6.8/10

Steven Spielberg's directorial debut, The Sugarland Express stars Golden Hawn as Lou Jean, a woman who helps her husband escape from prison and try to get their son out of foster care in Sugar Land, Texas.

This film was based on a true story about a husband and wife who held a police officer hostage as they raced across the United States  As Roger Ebert wrote in his 1974 review, "If the movie finally doesn’t succeed, that’s because Spielberg has paid too much attention to all those police cars (and all the crashes they get into), and not enough to the personalities of his characters. We get to know these three people just enough to want to know them better."

Kurt Russell - Big Trouble In Little China (1986) 7.3/10

In this martial arts action-comedy directed by John Carpenter, Russell plays Jack Burton a buffed long-haired tank top wearing truck driver in Chinatown who gets caught in a battle between an ancient Chinese prince and a Chinatown crime lord. The film also stars Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall's as Russell's love interest.

Big Trouble in Little China failed at the box office and did not receive positive reviews from either audiences or critics. But when the film went to home video, it did find a following in martial arts fans.

Audiences loved the underdog story, recapturing the feeling that was felt across the nation over 20 years before, as Al Michael's so passionately asked television viewers, "Do you believe in miracles?"

Goldie Hawn - Overboard (1987) 6.9/10

Goldie Hawn stars with Kurt Russell in this romantic comedy about a beautiful heiress, Dr. Joanna (Hawn) who hires Dean (Russell) to build a closet on her yacht. But she cheats him of the money he is owed. The next day, she falls overboard and his found by Dean, but she has amnesia.  So, Dean decides to tell her that she is his wife for payback for the money she owes him.  To his delight, he gets a mother for his four kids and a maid to clean the house.

The chemistry between Russell and Hawn illuminates the screen, but the "screwball" comedy is one dimensional.  Somehow, over the years, the film developed such a following that it is now considered a classic rom-com and spurred two remakes, in 1992 and 2006.

Kurt Russell - The Hateful Eight (2015) 7.8/10

John, Daisy, and Oswaldo during an exchange in The Hateful Eight

Going back to his Western roots, Kurt Russell portrays filthy-mouthed John Ruth, The Hangman in this Quentin Tarantino film. Ruth is a bounty hunter who chains himself to his prisoner, Daisy (Jennifer Jason Leigh), as he stays for the night in Red Rock.

The Hateful Eight is about eight strangers who are forced to seek refuge in Red Rock because of a massive blizzard. The film has a dynamic cast, including Samuel L. Jackson, Walton Goggins and Tim Roth, as well as Russell and Leigh. In classic Tarantino style, it has just the right amount of action, humor, and excessive violence.

Goldie Hawn - Butterflies Are Free (1972) 7.2/10

Don Baker (Edward Albert), a blind man looking for a place of his own trying to escape the grips of his overprotecting mother (Eileen Heckart), befriends a young, zany free-spirited actress, Jill (Hawn) his next-door neighbor. They both learn a lot from each other, bringing their relationship even closer.

Hawn always brightens up the screen with her bubbly personality. She had a few funny lines, but unfortunately, they were few and far in between. But both Hawn's and Heckart's characters are engaging and provide great on-screen chemistry.

In this romantic comedy, a dentist (Walter Matthau) pretends to be married to avoid commitment but he falls in love with his girlfriend (Goldie Hawn) and asks her to marry him. He must ask his nurse (Ingrid Berman) to pretend to be his wife to protect his fabrication.

Roger Ebert stated, "It's not exactly that the lines mean anything, it's more than the three central performers (by Walter Matthau, Ingrid Bergman, and -- wow! -- Goldie Hawn) are so engaging that we find ourselves, despite ourselves, involved in the story."

Kurt Russell - The Thing (1982) 8.1/10

Kurt Russell plays helicopter pilot MacReady in John Carpenter's science fiction horror film about a group of American researchers in Antarctica who confront a parasitic alien life form that imitates other organisms -- The Thing.

When the movie was released, critics panned the movie, stating it was a film of gore with meaningless depictions. Ironically, when it was released on home video and television, it was highly viewed as an all-time horror/science fiction classic and considered a movie ahead of its time.
