The Tesla Cybertruck was finally unveiled to much fanfare and mixed reviews last week; amid the flurry of memes the vehicle inspired, perhaps no repurposing of tech giant Elon Musk's pet project was more apropos than its insertion as a mod into GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64. With critics of the vehicle bemoaning its harshly angular exterior and sharp contours, the game's blocky, pixelated presentation may just provide the perfect visual accompaniment for it.

After years of teasing his latest creation, Musk finally showed off the all-electric battery-powered Cybertruck for the first time on November 21 at the Tesla Design Studio, right next to SpaceX headquarters in Los Angeles. Undoubtedly, a lot of good came out of the event for Tesla - on Tuesday, for example, Musk tweeted that the vehicle had reached 250,000 pre-orders. However, it's difficult to say it was a home-run for the company given some of the criticism, as well as a failed drop test performed on-stage by chief of design Franz von Holzhausen that resulted in the Cybertruck's windows being broken.

YouTube user Graslu00, who has been playing through GoldenEye and running custom levels on his channel recently, tapped into the Cybertruck media frenzy by essentially modding both the vehicle and Musk himself into Mission 6, Part III of the classic shooter, which takes place on the streets of St. Petersburg. As with the GoldenEye film, where Pierce Brosnan's James Bond uses a Soviet Army T-55 to pursue General Ourumov and a captive Natalya Simonova throughout the city, the level is well-known for giving players the ability to put 007 in a tank and dispatching massive amounts of enemies with it. In Graslu00's mod, the tank is replaced by the Cybertruck, but all of the destruction remains intact.

Before taking control of the Cybertruck in the mod, Musk and Bond deduce that Ourumov is fleeing in a vehicle that isn't eco-friendly and agree that he must be stopped. Musk then proclaims that he wants to see fossil fuels out of action, then promptly returns to SpaceX. At the conclusion of the mission, Graslu00's first completed task is listed as 'Contact Elon Musk.'

The Cybertruck feels at home in GoldenEye 007 for more reasons than one. Not only does its blocky style fit right in with the low-poly, 64-bit graphics of the mid-'90s, but Musk actually alluded to plans for an amphibious vehicle based on Wet Nellie - the 1976 Lotus Esprit S1 that was modified into a functioning submarine for a scene in what was perhaps Roger Moore's best turn as Bond in 1977's The Spy Who Loved Me - earlier this year. Eon Productions have never been a studio that shies away from product placement or debuting new and extravagant vehicles in Bond films, either. The Cybertruck would look right at home in Bond's 2020 return, No Time to Die.
